3 Great Reasons Why You Came Into This World

@thereadingman · 2025-05-25 16:33 · Proof of Brain

Mankind have always wondered throughout the ages what are the reasons why we are in this world. Here, I offer my take on that. Hello everybody, be welcome to my new post, the 5th of this year, this time with something different I hope you like. Step inside.

“Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.” – Leo Tolstoy

Last year I stumbled on a little book about health, hope and happiness in a book giveaway at my local grocery store. I took the 120 pages little thing home, read it in a few days and left me with some ideas. I decided then to write this post about what I learned from it.

I’m not precisely big on self-help and I have barely written anything about it here, but this time I’ll give it a shot. There’s been a lot of talking in this century about depression and anxiety; people have also wondered throughout the ages the reasons why we are in this world. No matter your age or where you’re from, you can benefit, or at least take in consideration, what this little book made me realize.

So, without further ado, let’s begin.

3 – To Honor God

Since time immemorial, man has had the need to fulfill a spiritual sense inside himself. Thousands of men, from philosophers, to priests, to kings, to wanderers have believed they’ve found an answer to that need. This would explain the formation of many religions throughout the ages with good results, but sometimes devastating consequences. From the heretic pharaoh Akhenaton, to the Christian Saint Augustine, to Mohammad, to Buddha, and even Jesus Christ himself, all have tried to achieve a perfect way to honor “The Divine Conscious”, “The Infinite Intelligence”, or, simply put, God Himself.

Whether you believe in a superior being, the Creator of all things in the universe, or not, the need for a spiritual fulfillment and ways to honor that being are present in almost of kinds of societies. One simple way to honor God is to follow Jesus Christ’s teachings (love thy enemy, do not unto others what you don’t want for yourself); also the daily reading of the Bible will provide you with a guide and a sense of purpose. There is more wisdom in The Bible than any other Easter philosophy book that I have ever read.

Do your best to help those around you, take care of your environment, read your Bible every day and pray every morning. There’s a healing power in praying that has been demonstrated, albeit in a rather empirical way, throughout the times. And there are studies which suggest that praying can have a beneficial effect on high blood pressure, wounds, headaches, and anxiety. And don’t forget to give thanks for everything you have.

2 – To Contribute

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said: “Every man is a consumer, and ought to be a producer.” Every day you must create, every day you must add plus one; just by creating a post on an internet platform you’re doing something. It’s not the same as a day job you have to do to pay the bills, you must strive for something beyond that. Your real job is to create something that will help or entertain others in a good way. You also must design a plan with both long term and short term goals for everything you want to achieve in this life.

Paint that painting; write that post, or better yet, write a book or a movie script; look for ways to start a business. Seek out for those who know more that you in a field you want to explore. Read and keep yourself informed on what is happening in the world. Your real job here is to create. Don’t wait, you won’t be here forever. One day you will wake up and there won’t be any more time to do the things you’ve always wanted to do. Do them now.

And don’t be afraid to make mistakes; mistakes are proof you are trying. Have a clear objective, make a plan and set clear goals, aim for the best, do your best effort, and to hell with the rest.

1 – To Enjoy life

Life is meant to be lived and enjoyed. If your life is just work and TV, it’s time to mix things up. I know that money can be an issue here, and I know that better than anybody, but don’t let that stop you from doing the things you want to do. There are many ways to enjoy life without spending tons of money. You don’t have to spend a fortune travelling to an island in the South Pacific to make your life worthwhile. Explore your own backyard, I’m sure there are plenty of things to do in your own city or in little towns nearby. The point is to keep moving. Get out of the house and walk more.

Prioritize your health, there’s no point in having all the money in the world if you’re always sick and are going to spend it all on doctors, pills and hospitals. Take care of yourself, exercise and eat healthy. Cut out, or at least reduce, sugar and stay away from fast food and junk food; eat more lean meats, fruits and veggies. Also, find hobbies or things you like to do, and don’t pay attention to the naysayers that tell you hobbies are expensive and don’t make money; you need hobbies to live and feel better. Don’t spend all your time scrolling on a cell phone.

Happiness is a state of mind, feel good about yourself, and give thanks for what you have. Take pride in what you do. Own your achievements. Try new things, stay curious. Say yes to more invitations. Go to new places and events in your city. Take mini retirements, or just sit and do nothing for a while. Read more books, learn more about the arts, and go more often to the movies. Listen to good music. Walk in nature, watch the birds, and climb a tree!
