Republic of Texas eight gram silver

Last trip to the coin shop I picked up two of these little guys. 20190612_192650 (1).jpg I had never seen the before and thought they were neat, put them with the stack and didn't have a chance to look up anything about them until now.

There is a group of people that think Texas never really ceded to the United States and is it's own nation. They have their own government with a president, vice president, and congress. Lots of open positions there and if you'd like to apply you better do it before September 19th because that's when the national elections are. I'm thinking of running for Postmaster General. The application for government office is only name, address, and two personal references!

They are also trying to reclaim Oklahoma, Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, and Wyoming. Good luck with that.

The Texians, as they refer to themselves, have their own currency. They range from a copper coin that's worth 3 units to a tenth ounce gold coin that's worth 500 units. No where on their website does it say how much a unit is equal to in USD. From what I could ascertain one of the Republic of Texas Common Law Justices went rouge and started making his own coins. I believe that's what I have. The other Texians didn't like that. They sent him a cease and desist letter in May 2018 and have removed him from public office. The former Justice has started his own version of the Republic of Texas called Texas National Republic. Now there's two options for role play government! It looks like he's moved away from silver coins and now has a website trying to sell CTRN cryptocurrency. I don't think I'm a buyer.

So these people are looney. The coins were a lot cooler before I researched them. I'll hang on to them for a bit but they may not be permanent residents here. Have a great rest of the weekend everyone!
