Last Sunday, Coco went missing. It started when she had asked for food, so I decided to boil a chicken leg because she loves slurping the soup and is crazy about chicken. She waited patiently in the corner of the room, but eventually got fed up and went out into the garden. When the chicken was ready, I called her, but she didn’t come. Then she disappeared for four whole days.
We searched everywhere. Blu was meowing nonstop, clearly worried and looking for her. The more days passed without any sign of Coco, the harder it was to believe she’d come back. Some said maybe she was taken by an owl or chased by a fox, or worse, lost or hurt.
On Thursday, we went to all the places Coco usually follows me and kept calling her name, hoping she’d hear me and find her way back.
Blu helped too; his loud meows echoed through our usual spots, and he ended up panting with exhaustion.
We returned home without her, feeling heavy-hearted and thinking she might have been taken or worse.
Blu has been anxious every day. Whenever I call “Coco!” he looks around hopefully, then slowly loses hope when she doesn’t appear.
But then, suddenly, while I was in the kitchen, Coco appeared. She slipped through a gap in the partially opened window, looked a little shocked, as if to say, “Is this where I’m supposed to be?” She stood still for a moment, and I managed to snap a photo.
It was the best surprise. I gave her food and treats right away, and she was so hungry.
We think she was chased and got lost, and must have heard me calling her; she found her way home.
Blu was over the moon to see her again.
Today, we all went on our usual walk, and Coco was so happy to be back.
Blu is happily doing mischief in the bushes.
They led me to the den they discovered a few weeks ago. We hung out there for a while and had fun as usual.
So glad to have our little family back together.
