The weather recently has been so confusing, the heat brought stress to the trees and plants, showing early autumn at the height of summer. Though I felt a little weird, I found it pretty interesting.
This morning, I went outside, and it looked like autumn under the summer sun. It was an unusual occurrence, and I probably won’t see it for a long time.
I collected a few leaves of assorted colours that fell from the cherry tree and inspired to create something out of these autumn-yet-summery colours.
I matched the colours with the sewing threads I had available.
I decided to try making an anklet using the smallest crochet hook I have, 60 mm.
I planned to use micro crochet. Though it is harder and longer than normal, I like the fine result; it is very intricate and light, plus the sewing threads are less likely to wear off.
With no plan of design in mind, I just let it happen. I first made a base, using cream to chain around my ankle. Then I single-crocheted all the way through.
I made a picot using lemon yellow.
Then another line of picots with burnt orange.
I added single crochet with dusky pink
Then another layer with burgundy red.
I finished it with green.
I secured the end with a knot and left some threads to naturally frill. I added a clasp.
I love how the summer and autumn colours blend together.
It was light on my ankle and fit well. It felt good wearing my new anklet while I was grounding today.
Have a lovely day, everyone, Mariah 🍃😊🧡
