We woke up early and had a leisurely flight from Porto to São Miguel Island in the Azores. We booked the trip with Ryanair and managed to get a round-trip ticket for 70 eur a must-see opportunity to discover this paradise in the middle of the Atlantic.

On that gray morning, typical of the island (and with a noticeable fluctuation in the weather), an adventure of discovery began: a path that led us to one of the island's most intriguing paths: to a borrowed tree, the giant sequoia.

I had already planned to visit this forest, as I had already seen all the main attractions of this magnificent island before leaving home. The trip was made by my girlfriend and me, which made it more fun and helped us bond. Overall, the best description I can give is as if we were "swallowed by nature." No rush to get there or pressured by work days, just enjoying nature with the person I love most. The smell of the damp earth, the creaking of the trees, and the birdsong brought us a deep connection to this place.

Along the way, we didn't encounter many hikers (note that this forest is private, and we paid about 3 euros to enter).

n the photos I took, I didn't focus so much on the landscape, but rather on some details. I find the trail extremely beautiful for its natural beauty. At the entrance, they mentioned that the forest was 100% preserved, although the only interventions along the trail were the removal of fallen branches or cleaning, while everything around was intentionally left without human intervention so we could enjoy the forest to its fullest. we walked among trees and huge ferns, it felt like we were in the movie Jurassic Park. trails of immense quality and well maintained, as well as well signposted throughout the route

IMG_0538.JPG Along the trail there are several small sections of stairs made of wood and earth, mainly in areas bordering small watercourses.

IMG_0569.JPG several trees fallen by the storm that one day passed through the region, but not removed to show the real forest, thus also creating a more diverse flora and fauna of animals, in addition to the rotting of this wood creating nutrients in the soil for the trees that are still good IMG_0573.JPG

IMG_0535.JPG The trail is a bit winding due to the huge tree roots that run through the terrain, but without rushing or hurrying it can be done easily, without any problems.
