Foggy trees

We have had some very foggy days out here lately. And as a photography lover I had to go out and make some photos as these conditions can add a lot to otherwise "less interesting" subjects. For example, I took some pictures of cows that became somehow isolated due to foggy environment.

I also went into the local woodlands, and tried capturing some trees. As I find woodland photography pretty tricky to do in normal conditions due to lot of distracting elements, the fog helps cover those distractions which adds to a more clean picture.

Isolating

Fog helps you isolate a subject, in other words, it helps creating a separation between the subject and the background. Like this tree is cut loose from the background by the thin layer of fog between the tree and the forest behind it. Without fog this would have become a dark blend and less interesting picture.

This tree separates itself from the background by both its forms compared to the straight trees in the background as also its position. Without fog it would have been much harder to emphasis this effect.

A gnarly dead pine tree stands out and catches some light due to it's lack of needles.

This little fellow refuses to let it's leafs go. It stands out between the dark pine trees by its shape and color.

I hope you enjoyed my foggy tree image's and see you next time!

Cheers, Thijs
