So this writing prompt asked which one between Motivation and Discipline is the main pushing force to achieve success?
As for me, I will say that discipline is bigger than motivation in achieving success in life or towards any given task. A man who is highly motivated but without discipline will fall and crash at the slightest temptation or distraction along the way.
In the journey of success, when motivation and discipline are compared, motivation cannot excel without discipline, but discipline can completely run without a full dosage of motivation. With discipline, a man who has a set goal can work towards achieving the goal with steadfastness, which is the discipline I am talking about, and he does not need constant motivation or daily motivational speeches to keep going.
Discipline is such that it has motivation embedded in it, because what keeps someone focused and resistant to any form of distraction is the aim of achieving a set goal or success.
Motivation is likened to a man who is being pushed to keep going but has no strong resistance to distractions, which can easily blow him off course in the journey of success. Motivation, in fact, can make a man get up after a fall to continue the journey, but for how long is he going to keep falling and getting up? With this, there is the tendency that the man may not be able to achieve success because of the many falls, which are usually setbacks.
Although the two of them seem to work hand in hand, I feel discipline is superior. It can run on its own without the support of motivation but, of course, discipline itself is an act of motivation.
Thanks!
