Two weeks left of school - Long summer holiday here we come!

5 days already

Damn, it's been another 5 days since I published anything, besides a few comments here and there, that is. It's been all about the humidity / heat making my carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms so much worse. Now the pain is not only there in the nights and mornings/evenings for a little while but it's there constantly, throughout the day and night. I wake up from the pain a few times a night and other times I wake up because of the humidity in the room, sigh. I yet have a few more months to go until birth and I won't lie, the past week was hard.

Swimming classes

My daughter didn't have her swimming diploma yet as when she had a month of summer school the second summer here in Spain, they said she could swim at the end of the month, turned out last year, that was not really the case, but by then it was too late to sign her up. This year I made sure to keep track of the options, and by total chance a friendly guy gave my boyfriend a flyer while picking our daughter up from school and told me to check it out.

I went online and found a way better and closer to home option for swimming classes that were also not during the unbearable July or August months but already available early June, I spoke to a friendly young guy and immediately locked her in for the first weeks of June. Great timing overall as our community pool opens this Saturday! Now I also have decided to sign up for his aquagym classes once I'm allowed to after giving birth, right now it's pointless as I can not drive to the pool most days so it will be best to walk downstairs to our own pool and find relief there instead in my final months. I'm excited to go though because I see these people in the pool a few nights a week and it looks really fun, the swimming instructor is great eye candy too, lol.

With just two weeks on the clock

Until the end of this school year, the final exams are being given as well as some projects are done to make it a bit more fun for the children. I really appreciate the fact that not every chapter of every book means they get an exam, instead they often get projects to show the teachers what they've understood/learned about the subject, which imo works much better because they're given some creative freedom and there's a bigger chance they get a nice grade for a project even if it differs from what the others made. A good approach for their self-confidence imo.

Slacking here and there

Although I have big respect for the fact that my daughter does most of her homework without me having to remind her, she often starts doing what she needs to do by herself without even mentioning it, I notice she's slacking a bit in learning chapters when there is an actual exam. I recognize this from my own childhood that when things weren't that interesting, I didn't do my best either. But as she only had 2 hours of help from her tutor this year, she is still rocking it like a champ, considering the fact that September 2022 she arrived at the Spanish public school without speaking one word Spanish. I'm still proud, as there are plenty of children with low(er) grades than hers. I'm not worried she'll turn out fine. In the end, practice is where you learn the most, and it was always my favourite (and most efficient) way to learn things. I guess she takes after me.

Activities, activities and more activities

While it's now Tuesday, the second last week of school, I just got notified that next week they have another school trip so that day, there are definitely no classes and the final day, the end of year party is held at school in evening. I remember very well from last year (when we lived here but she wasn't assigned at the school yet) that the party went on until late. We won't be there until late, I can't handle that anymore with my pregnancy getting heavier but we'll go for a few hours.

Then there's the birthday party of her best friend as well next week and I really hope they end up staying here another year as they are such good friends. The mother works at the university and normally they move every year but don't here where until either end of school year or when school ends. They said they might stay another year here, which I really hope for both of the girls.

Summer camp!

As I also discovered that the location where swimming classes are holds several summer camps, which are very affordable, I signed her up for 5 weeks of camp so that I hopefully have some less bored child while I'm lower on energy in general in summer, especially now adding that those will be my final weeks of pregnancy. It will be during school hours so she'll be occupied at least until the afternoon and that will build in some space for me to keep the workflow going and prep for the baby to come. And nap a lot if this painful night ritual continues, gosh, I'm exhausted when the afternoon starts.

Let's get these final months over with!
