I do thoroughly enjoy interacting with orca and other marine mammals from small vessels. A big reason for this is the perspective you get when you are closer to the sea level. I sort of prefer observing these animals from this angle as appose to watching from up above on the larger ship.
It could be that I am in a small vessel and driving it myself with only a handful of people with me as guests. Either way, it does give me a great opportunity to take photos from this perspective that is not as common as I would like. This pod of small Type B orca were encountered in the Gerlache strait, which was nothing short of amazing!
