Maturity is not by age. Greetings, beautiful ladies and gentlemen, thank you for stopping by my blog. Question of the week says, "Age and maturity." It is true that maturity is not by age because I have seen and met people that are older but not mature-minded. Let's define age. Age refers to the duration/time of one's existence on earth. And again, age is not a direct determinant of maturity. While maturity means growth, inner growth, and the ability to know or show compassion, understanding, self-awareness, and responsibility.

While growing up, I used to feel that every older person is mature, but not until I became one. That was when I realized that it is actually true that even the fools also grows old. Let me use myself as an example. So I have This friend who is way older than me she is a mother of three but has a very shallow mind, like she can't make any meaningful decision without seeking help from someone. In fact, there was a scenarios that happened to her or with her that made me understand that truly age is just a number. So this woman wanted to buy sachet water, popularly known as pure water in this side of my country, Nigeria. It is very cheap when you buy it from the car, who supplies or brings it directly from the company or factory.
So on this fateful day, she stopped the car to get water from them, but they refused to sell water to her. With reasons best known to them, these women knelt down in the middle of the highway begging and crying like a baby for them to sell water to her. But they refused, When her husband found out about the nonsense she displayed on the highway, he nearly sent her packing because he felt very embarrassed. I myself was very mad at her for displaying such a barbaric act. I mean, who does that? What in God's name was she thinking? With your money, you still knelt down to beg? How, for what. At that moment, I knew that maturity is indeed not by age. Because if she was or is mature enough to think about her reputation and that of her family, she wouldn't have done it, or if she were mature enough, I don't think she would behave the way she did.

I was disappointed at her, and so was the husband. This person I'm talking about is around 40 years of age. Let me also talk about myself. So I happened to be the fifth daughter from a family of six. But today I'm married and have my immediate elder sister staying with me. The reason is that she's sick and can't take care of herself, and I'm the only one who can properly take care of her. Not just that, I have grown to the extent that today in my family there is no decision that is made without my approval. This will be a story for another day. So yes, maturity is not and can never be by age. Age is just a number. Thank you for reading through. See you next time 👏.
Maturity is not by age.
