The magic of the Moon – or the curse?

Okay… 7 days without posting?! WHAT the hell happened?! You want to know why? Well, let’s just say this week was… hmm, let’s use a soft word… completely messed up! 😅

Last weekend, I planned to work only till 3 o’clock. I was already dreaming about my weekend chill time. But of course...something had to go wrong! 🙃

Some of you already know that I work at the same company as my husband. It’s usually fine since we don’t work on the same floor. But guess what? This weekend, we did. And of course... drama time! 😏

Saturday morning, we started work, and my husband told me he had a headache. Uh oh. So we sent him to lie down and rest, thinking he’d be fine later. I mean, come on, three girls can handle 40 residents, right? 😉

But after two hours, he was still bad. So, like the good wife I am, I told him to go home and rest. And of course, I worked the rest of the day for him. And the next three days too, because… well, superhero wife mode activated. 🦸‍♀️ 💪

My husband’s a biker. About 16 years ago, he did something crazy...jumped off a high statue with his bike trying to do a trick. No helmet, because he was young and thought he was invincible. Result? Cracked skull base. He was lucky to survive, but the headaches never left.

Over the years, we noticed a pattern, whenever the weather changes a lot, or he doesn’t sleep well, the headaches hit. Sometimes he’s fine for months, sometimes they come back every few weeks.

Yesterday, I was chatting with my co-workers, and two of them swore their migraines always happen during the full moon. And it was a full moon, and once again, he had a headache. (but during the day...so...hmmm)

They said it’s because the Moon’s gravity affects people, just like it moves the ocean tides. I was like, hmm… really? But I didn’t argue. I had never researched it and didn’t want to sound like a know-it-all. 😅

Still, my curiosity woke up. I mean, I love the Moon! Watching her always calms me down...sitting outside with a hot cup of tea, just staring at her glow. (Am I crazy? Maybe a little. 😜)

And who are these people to say my peaceful Moon is giving my husband pain?!

So, let me tell you a little something about the Moon...YES...what did you expect? I'm a big fan, and it was also crucial for people in ancient times, so suffer in silence, please 😉 😂

Yes...time to dig deeper. 🤔

A little Moon magic

From ancient times, the Moon has fascinated people. She shines above us like a yellow friend, glowing bright, then fading away, disappearing and returning again. Before science, people saw mystery, magic, and power in her light. I mean...one day it's here, and a few days later it's gone. People were probably going crazy because that big thing in the sky disappeared now and then, only to magically come back. 😁

In ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome, they worshipped Moon gods and goddesses like Isis, Artemis, and Luna. ( I'm not here today to explain who those gods were, so if you want to know, look it up. Believe me... you won't be disappointed! 😉 ) In Asia, the full moon has always been a time for family, gratitude, and celebration.

Many believed the Moon could affect our mood, health, and even our luck. Sailors trusted it to guide them, healers thought it could change our bodies and minds, and people used its light to track time, from one full moon to the next. That’s actually how early calendars started! 🌝

Even today, people feel something special when the Moon is full. Some say it gives them energy, strange dreams, or strong emotions. Others say it brings headaches or sleepless nights.

Science? Well, it says there’s no solid proof the Moon causes any of that. But people still swear they can feel its pull.

A full moon happens about every 29.5 days...when the Moon is fully lit by the Sun and shines like a glowing coin in the sky.

Some follow the Moon’s cycle for meditation, goal-setting, or self-care. Others just enjoy her beauty. Yeah...like me. We’ve walked on her, photographed her, and studied her… yet she still feels magical. ✨

Whether you believe in her power or just love her glow, the Moon reminds us that everything in life moves in cycles. Growing, glowing, and beginning again. 🌕

🌘 The verdict?

From both my point of view and science’s, the Moon doesn’t cause headaches. But I’ll tell you something funny...I used to have trouble sleeping during full moons too! Then one day, I simply closed my blinds so the light wouldn’t shine in… and I slept like a baby. Problem solved! 😴 😂

For me, the Moon is pure peace and beauty. For others, it might feel like a curse. But hey...maybe it’s all about how we see it. 💫

What do you think?

However, I still have one small problem... I’ve been trying to solve this one for years... I WANT TO BUY A DAMN LENS so I can finally take amazing photos of the Moon! But seriously… who the hell has 24,000 euros just lying around for a lens?! 🤯

Oh...maybe in the future...If there's any money left when I'm 80 years old, I will buy it and finally take the most beautiful moon photo.

(Yes, my husband took this photo a few years ago with a Sony A6000 and a Minolta 200mm lens. Not bad, but I still want to take closer and clearer photos.)

With love, @tinabrezpike ❤️
