Moscow City: City of Glass

Hello, my traveling nieces and nephews of the world. First of all, I thank you for giving me the opportunity to be part of this travel and adventure community #worldmappin . And for the kindness of visiting and reading my blog.

Today I want to write this short post about one of my visits to Moscow. Specifically, I want to show you some of the images I took in Moscow City. One of those places that impresses with its magnificence. I called it the City of Glass, although I don't know if anyone else calls it that. The name isn't anything new, but rather suggestive. And you'll see why.

I took this image from my brother and friend Valodia's car as we headed south to build a banya (Russian bath) at the Church Camp in Pakjomovka. If you'd like, I'll leave you the link to that post.

Honestly, if I'm honest, it's not one of my favorite places in that city. It evokes a certain sensational poetry that, far from attracting, provokes a feeling of suspicion. Like when you feel that a poet or writer wants to introduce themselves to the environment with artifices, psychological tricks, and easily exploitable paradigms; to make a show of it.

Of course, when I saw it for the first time, I was impressed. Coming from an island where the highest thing is the ego of its rulers, seeing buildings over 100 stories high was incredible.

And not just the buildings, the cars, the subway stations, the streets... Everything seemed like something from another planet. Or rather, perhaps I was the one entering that galaxy, or a parallel world only a few minutes from where I had been half an hour earlier.

Moscow Motors

Ha ha. Among my favorite things to delight my eyes with while traveling are transportation of all kinds. I love machinery, and I always say: two great inventions have been created by man: motorized transportation (especially trains) and ice cream.

To be honest, I truly love Nature Tourism more. But I still appreciate the wonders that beautiful cities hold.

And if I continue with the honesty, I prefer the ancient, historic, classical, and representative architecture of the places I visit. I'd gladly trade Moscow City, this glass tower, for the Historic District, popularly known as Red Square.

However, the architectural value of this business center cannot be denied. And I say this because almost all of Moscow City is nothing more than a large office conglomerate.

Of course, there are those who like to live here. And, of course, rent here costs as much in a month as it would in a year in any other part of the Russian capital.

If you're interested in knowing these kinds of numbers and details, you can visit the most common site for these activities: avito.ru. You can install that platform's app. The other, more well-known site in Russia is Ostrava, for which there is also an app. While the former is like a whirlwind of buying and selling, the latter is important when searching for rentals and accommodations.

Although Booking.com and, my favorite, Yandex Map work for you. Although it's for maps, you can check out many services. It also has other services built in, including information, booking, and traveler interaction. Although the Yandex Family includes each of its own independent platforms (Taxi, Metro, Pharmacies, Hotels, Travel, Food, Messaging, and even work apps, like Yandex Smena), you can access many of them on Yandex Map.

Finally, one detail I loved was seeing how they intertwine some ancient concepts with modernity. In this romantic square below, you can find, without losing the glass style, reminders of times gone by, such as an amphitheater and artistic centers with a traditional feel.

Moscow City: Ciudad de Cristal

Hola, mis sobrinas y sobrinos viajeros del mundo mundial. Ante todo, les agradezco por regalarme la oportunidad de ser parte de esta comunidad de viajes y aventuras #worldmappin . Y, por la gentileza de visitar y leer mi blog.

Hoy quiero escribirles este pequeño post sobre una de mis visitas a Moscú. En específico, deseo mostrarles algunas de las imágenes que tomé en Moscow City. Uno de esos lugares que impresiona por su magnificencia. Yo le llamé ciudad de cristal, aunque no sé si alguien más le llame así. Es que el nombre no es nada novedoso, sino sugerente. Y veréis por qué.

Esta imagen la tomé desde el coche de mi hermano y amigo Valodia, cuando íbamos para el sur, a construir un Bania (Baño ruso), en el Campamento de la Iglesia, allá en Pakjómovka. Si quieres, te dejo el enlace a esa entrada.

A la verdad, si les soy franco, no es uno de mis lugares más queridos en esa ciudad. Es que provoca cierta poesía efectista que que más allá de atraer, provoca un sentimiento de recelo. Como cuando sientes que un poeta o escritor, lo que desea es introducirse en el entorno con artificios, trucos psicológicos y paradigmas de fácil explotación; para llegar al show.

Por supuesto que al verle la primera vez quedé impresionado. Como provengo de una isla donde lo más alto que posee es el ego de los gobernantes. Ver edificios de más de 100 pisos de altura fue una pasada.

Y no solo las edificaciones, los autos, las estaciones del Metro, las calles… Todo me pareció como salido de otro planeta. O más bien, acaso era yo quien me adentraba en aquella galaxia, o en un mundo paralelo que distaba solo unos minutos de donde yo había estado media hora antes.

Moscow Motors

Ja, ja. Como parte de mis encantos favoritos con los cuales deleito mis ojos mientras viajo, son los medios de transporte, de todo tipo. Me encantan las maquinarias y siempre digo: dos grandes inventos ha construido el hombre: los medios de transporte motorizados (en especial los trenes), y el helado.

Si te soy franco, yo amo más el Turismo de Naturaleza a cabalidad. Pero no dejo de apreciar las maravillas que albergan las ciudades hermosas.

Y si continúo con lo de la franqueza, me agrada más la arquitectura antigua, histórica, clásica y representativa de los lugares que visito. Bien cambiaría Moscow City, esta mole de Cristal, por el Casco Histórico llamado con popularidad La Plaza Roja.

Sin embargo, no se puede mentir el valor arquitectónico de este centro de negocios. Y digo así, porque casi todo Moscow City no es más que un gran conglomerado de oficinas.

Por supuesto que hay quienes gustan vivir aquí. Y el precio de las rentas acá vale en un mes lo que un año en cualquier otra parte de la capital rusa.

Si te interesa saber este tipo de números y detalles, puedes visitar el sitio más común para estas acciones: avito.ru. Puedes instalar la app de esa plataforma. La otra más conocida en Russia es Ostrava, para la cual también tiene una app. Si bien la primera es como un revolico de compra-ventas, la segunda si es importante a la hora de buscar rentas y alojamientos.

Aunque te funciona Booking y, mi favorito, el Yandex Map. Con este, aunque es para mapas, puedes consultar muchos servicios. Tiene incorporado otros servicios, tanto informativos como de reserva e interacción del Viajero. Aunque la Familia Yandex tiene a cada una de sus plataformas independientes dentro (Taxi, Metro, Farmacias, Hoteles, Travels, Comida, Mensajería…, incluso aplicaciones para trabajar, como Yandex Smena); en Yandex Map puedes acceder a muchos de ellos.

Acá te dejo un par de fotos escasas sobre las maravillas que adornaban las calles de Moscow City aquel día en que lo visité.

Por último, un detalle que me encantó fue ver como entrelazan con la modernidad algunos conceptos antiguos y en esta romántica plaza que te pongo abajo puedes encontrar, sin perder el estilo de cristal, enunciados a tiempos antaños, como un anfiteatro y centros artísticos con aires tradicionales.
