When traveling, which type are you? Do you choose accommodations with breakfast included, or do you prefer to stay late, so breakfast isn't essential?
I'm a morning person, but I usually book accommodations that don't include breakfast. In certain cities, the reason is simple: to explore local breakfasts. However, when I went to Purwokerto some time ago, I actually booked accommodation that included breakfast. Since I'm an early riser and planned to explore the city early, I showered, changed, and got ready to go downstairs for breakfast.
The restaurant is on the first floor, next to the lobby, but since this is a 3-star and fairly affordable accommodation, breakfast was already on the menu the day before I checked in. We, the guests, could choose between chicken porridge or fried rice. I chose chicken porridge, while my friend chose fried rice. These two dishes are very common breakfast options for Indonesians.
When I entered the restaurant, the waiter greeted me and asked me to show my meal ticket. Afterward, we looked for an empty table while the waiter returned to the kitchen and busily prepared our menu and the menus for the other guests.
While waiting for our main course, I wandered around and grabbed a cup of hot coffee and some fruit. There were neatly sliced pomegranates, so I grabbed a few and returned them to my table.
Besides the main course, which had been listed since yesterday, there was also toast served here complete with jam. Customers were free to choose their own bread and toast it themselves. Lined up from the entrance were neatly arranged cups, sugar, creamer, two thermoses for tea and coffee, a toast machine, margarine, blueberry jam, and chocolate for toppings, a tray of cut fruit, fruit skewers, sachets of sauce, toothpicks, chili sauce and soy sauce, and tumblers for mineral water.

Seating was arranged in the middle and on the side in a pantry-style setting with long-legged chairs. Although small, everything was neat and clean.

After a while, our menu finally arrived. A serving of chicken porridge was topped with chicken, fried soybeans, shredded chicken, sliced spring onions, and fried shallots. There was chili sauce and a distinctive yellow sauce served separately.

My friend's looked equally delicious. Soy sauce fried rice, complete with a fried egg, cucumber, and tomato, complemented the vegetables. That morning, we had a hearty breakfast, occasionally chatting about the technical details of our departure and the route we would explore. Meanwhile, we also hoped for clear skies and cool air for a pleasant journey.
