Hello my dear friends of Hive, today we are in Ascoli Piceno in the Marche region, where we will be able to enjoy an anise-flavored coffee in the famous Caffè Meletti,the ideal place to spend every moment of the day in a place rich in history, charm and elegance. In fact, this is a bar of the Meletti brand, which produces an aniseed distillate called Anisetta Meletti, an ancient family recipe, now famous all over the world. It is a rare expression of the Liberty style in the Marche with floral decorations and perfect original furnishings . The building that houses it is in line with its style and blends with great elegance with the Renaissance style of Piazza del Popolo next to the Palazzo del Capitano, giving a touch of color with its antique pink plasters.
Ciao miei cari amici di Hive, oggi siamo ad Ascoli Piceno nelle Marche, dove potremo gustare un caffè aromatizzato all'anice nel famoso Caffè Meletti, luogo ideale dove trascorrere ogni momento della giornata in un luogo ricco di storia, fascino ed eleganza. Questo infatti è un bar del marchio Meletti, che produce un distillato all'anice chiamato Anisetta Meletti, antica ricetta della famiglia, ora famoso in tutto il mondo. E’ una rara espressione del Liberty nelle Marche con decorazioni floreali e arredi originali perfetti . La palazzina che lo ospita è in linea con il suo stile e si inserisce con grande eleganza con lo stile Rinascimentale della Piazza del Popolo accanto al Palazzo del Capitano, apportando un tocco di colore con la sua intonacatura rosa antico.

I usually come when there is the antiques market, but it takes up the whole square so I never get a full view. But let's get back to our coffee.

It was inaugurated on the evening of 18 May 1907 by the will of Silvio Meletti, the liqueur industrialist known for the production of Anisetta Meletti, who two years earlier had taken over the building built between 1881 and 1884 to house the offices of the Post and Telegraph. The front facade is in neoclassical style enriched with a portico by a five arches with ceiling frescoes by Giovanni Picca, Ascoli painter and decorator of the second half of the nineteenth century. The pictorial motifs bring us back to the original function of the building designed for post offices. Spread over three floors, the last one is open with an elegant terrace overlooking the square.
E' stato inaugurato la sera del 18 maggio 1907 per volontà di Silvio Meletti, l’industriale di liquori noto per la produzione dell’Anisetta Meletti, che due anni prima aveva rilevato la palazzina realizzata tra il 1881 e il 1884 per ospitare gli uffici della Posta e del Telegrafo. La facciata frontale è in stile neoclassico arricchita da un portico con cinque archi e soffitto affrescato da Giovanni Picca, pittore e decoratore ascolano della seconda metà dell'ottocento. I motivi pittorici ci riportano alla funzione originaria dell'edificio destinato agli uffici postali. Essa si eleva su tre piani l'ultimo aperto con un'elegante terrazzo con la vista sulla piazza

All'interno è tutto in stile Liberty ed è come fare un tuffo nel passato, perfettamente conservato e l’impostazione è ancora quella originale.

In another space there is the tea room, with round tables in white Carrara marble, Thonet-type chairs with Vienna straw, sofas in green velvet and large mirrors on the walls.
In un altro spazio si trova la sala da tè, con tavoli rotondi in marmo bianco di Carrara, sedie tipo Thonet con paglia di Vienna, divani in velluto verde e grandi specchi alle pareti.
An entire counter is dedicated to pastry.
