Cleanliness is a lifestyle, not just a Habit.

Sometimes I wonder if I was just born with neatness in me. From childhood, I have always loved a clean environment. Cleanliness is one of the first things I notice anywhere I go, and it even influences my choices in life. For example, whenever I am choosing a place to rent or stay, one of my major criteria is how clean the house and its surroundings are. I can’t imagine living in a dirty environment because I believe that hygiene and sanitation are key to a healthy and peaceful life. ![broom-6310388_1280.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/toluwanih/23uFRu237jWJpLgWTt8SAQmdY3ftjBJbyHjdQouhsyoxczdhYmoJ5mzJEWqdcoajf4hFE.jpg)[source](https://pixabay.com/photos/broom-cleaning-sweep-outdoors-6310388/) When I was in school, I made sure I looked for accommodation in a neat compound. To me, it was not just about having a roof over my head but also about living in a place where I could breathe fresh air and feel comfortable. A dirty environment attracts flies, rodents, and germs that cause sickness, so I always preferred to pay a little more for a clean place rather than live somewhere that would affect my health. In my daily life, I also practice different hygiene habits that keep my surroundings clean and safe. One of the simplest yet most effective things I do is to sweep the front of my flat every single day. It may look like a small act, but it makes a big difference. A swept compound looks welcoming, and it also prevents dirt from piling up, which could later turn into a breeding ground for germs. Another habit I have cultivated is washing my plates immediately after use. I never allow my dirty plates to stay till the next day. Leftover food attracts ants and cockroaches, and the sight of dirty plates in the sink makes me uncomfortable. By washing them immediately, I keep my kitchen clean and also save myself the stress of having too many dishes to do at once. My toilet is another area I pay close attention to. A dirty toilet is one of the fastest ways diseases like cholera and diarrhea spread, so I make sure mine is always clean. I disinfect it regularly and ensure it smells fresh. To me, a clean toilet is a reflection of self care and respect for anyone who comes into my home. ![putz-bucket-1290951_1280.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/toluwanih/23vsWhGdp3P7wzhyifpmVqUB8GapB7SoGgfpqETtXqH9eJhgnSZ1ookK3a7o5ArbT6z9e.jpg)[source](https://pixabay.com/photos/cleaning-bucket-cleaning-rags-1290951/) The floor of my flat is also important to me. I mop it every week because I hate to see stains or dust gather. A freshly mopped floor not only looks good but also prevents the spread of germs that settle on surfaces. One of my strongest hygiene habits is washing my hands. I honestly cannot count how many times I wash my hands in a day. Whether it is before eating, after touching something outside, or after using the restroom, I always make sure my hands are clean. These hygiene and sanitation hacks may seem simple, but they are powerful. If everyone made them part of their lifestyle, most diseases wouldn’t even exist in the first place. Cleanliness is not only about beauty; it is about health, safety, and peace of mind. By keeping my environment clean, I protect myself and also contribute to a healthier world.
