A ritual doesn’t always have to be something big, like a festive celebration or a family gathering. Sometimes, the simplest daily practices we carry out bring meaning and become a part of who we are. For me, that ritual is studying the word of God and praying every single day. It may sound ordinary to some people, but to me, it means so much because it is the way I start my day.
My day truly begins when I talk to my Heavenly Father. Before picking up my phone, speaking to anyone, or even stepping out of my room, I spend time in prayer and in the word of God. I see it as my personal time with Him, where I pour out my heart, seek direction, and receive strength for the day. Over time, this practice has moved from being just something I do into something I cannot live without. It has become my daily ritual, my anchor, and my source of peace.
There are days when I wake up late and find myself rushing somewhere important. On those mornings when I skip my prayer and Bible study, I notice a difference immediately. The whole day feels somehow incomplete. My productivity slows down, my energy feels low, and even small tasks become frustrating. It is in the moments like these that I know how important this ritual is to me. Without it, I feel as though I am trying to walk without direction. That is why I made a personal decision: no matter how busy my day might look, I must always create time for God.
If I know that I have to leave the house very early, I simply set my alarm clock earlier than usual. That way, I can still keep my ritual of prayer and Bible study before heading out. It may require sacrifice like losing some extra minutes of sleep but it is worth it because nothing can compare to starting the day in God’s presence.
This ritual has been part of my life for years now, and I can honestly say it has shaped me. In God’s word, I find wisdom, guidance, and strength to face challenges. Through prayer, I find peace, confidence, and assurance that no matter what the day brings, I am not alone. Life can often be uncertain, full of worries and distractions, but talking to God daily keeps me grounded and focused.
I strongly believe that God should be the first priority in our lives. He is our creator, our sustainer, and our guide. If we can dedicate time to so many other things work, social media, conversations, and entertainment then surely we can put Him first too. That is why I hold this ritual in such high esteem.
To me, prayer and studying God’s word every morning is not just a habit. It is a lifeline, a source of direction, and my way of showing God that I depend on Him. It is my everyday ritual, and I cannot imagine living without it.
