I remembered I was taught the definition of first aid in secondary school as the treatment given to a person ill or involved in accidents before taking them to the hospital. or the emergency treatment given in case of emergency. I was taught the theory, and I can clearly list the things inside a first aid box, like bandages, drugs, cotton wool, medicated spirit, etc. However, I'm not confident in carrying out the practical aspects because we are not taught then.

The only first aid I know how to do best is to shout "help, help" and pour water on the person if they fainted, although thinking about it, that might not be the best approach. One method of first aid I know how to do best is calling for help, but I still think it is a good approach because I might call on someone who knows how to perform CPR to rescue the person.
As a Nigerian child, I have know and see that the first aid we often perform includes pouring water on someone who fainted and putting a spoon in their mouth, although I still don't understand the reasoning behind the spoon aspect. But I have see it many times and I can also do that if someone faint. I've seen people use these methods, and if someone gets injured, I can help by applying rob and treating it with medicated spirit before taking them to the hospital.
If someone is bleeding uncontrollably, the only first aid I know is to use a cloth to bind the affected area, such as a hand or leg, in hopes of stopping the bleeding. I'm not sure if this is medically effective, but at least it might help control the bleeding until medical help arrives.

I also believe that caring for the person is an essential part of first aid. I recall a personal experience when I was in school where my landlord's daughter gave birth unexpectedly at home. She has already visit the hospital in the morning but they told her to go back home that it was not yet time, in the afternoon she went to the backyard and gave birth to a babygirl. We were unsure of what to do, but we managed to call for help, I run to call a nurse beside our house and she nurse arrived to assist the mother and baby. Calling for help, in that case, was also a crucial part of the first aid.
I've also seen CPR being performed in movies, where the person puts their mouth on the patient's mouth, but I don't know the specifics of how it's done. I wish I could learn how to do it properly, as it seems like a crucial skill in emergency situations. This topic is a challenge for me to learn and master, especially in case of emergencies. With this topic, I'll learn how to perform first aid better because it's necessary in case of emergencies. I believe everyone need to know about it.
