If I am opportune to win a scholarship, the new skill I would love to learn is decoration. The reason is that, I am already a baker, and many times my customers have asked me if I also decorate event venues, especially for weddings. They want to patronize me not only for cakes but also for decoration services. Unfortunately, I have not yet learned decoration in a professional way. I know a little, but it is not enough to handle the full decoration of a hall or a wedding venue.
Because of this, I once asked about the training fee for decoration, but I could not afford the amount. If I am awarded a scholarship, I will gladly take the opportunity to learn decoration and add it to my baking work. I believe it will open more doors for me and help me serve my customers better. Just last week, someone asked me if I could decorate for their event. I had to call a friend in my church who does decoration so we could work together and she is the one that always do our church decorations. And since it was only a small field decoration and the bride’s tent, I will managed to handle it with her support. But it made me realize again how important this skill is for my career.
Learning decoration will not only make me more skilled but also increase my value in the business world. Instead of only providing cakes, I will be able to offer a complete package of cake and decoration. This will attract more customers, save them the stress of looking for two different people, and also increase my income. More importantly, it will help me grow my creativity, because decoration and baking go hand in hand as arts that bring beauty and joy to people’s celebrations.
Therefore, if given a scholarship, I will choose decoration without hesitation. It is the perfect way to expand my talent and make my dream of combining baking and decoration a reality. Pictures is mine.
