Environmental influence

The environment plays a very important role in shaping who a child becomes in life. No matter how well we raise our children at home, the world around them will still have a strong influence on them. A child is like a seed, and the environment is like the soil where that seed is planted. If the soil is good, the seed will grow well and bear good fruit. But if the soil is bad, even the healthiest seed may struggle to grow.

Looking at the world today, there is so much negativity around us. Technology and social media have taken over our lives, and many young people are distracted and unhappy. They keep chasing things that don’t really matter, forgetting to appreciate what they already have. I remember my grandmother used to say that, in her time, life was simple, and people were content with the little they had. Children respected their parents and never blamed them for not providing enough. But things are different now. Many young people seem ungrateful even though they live in a world with so many advancements and opportunities.

The truth is, the society a child grows up in has a lot to do with the kind of person that child will become. For example, if the main job in a community is farming, most children raised there will likely become farmers too because that is what they see every day. They grow up thinking that it is the normal way of life unless they move to another environment where they are exposed to different ideas and opportunities. In the same way, if a child grows up in a community filled with crime, immorality, and bad behaviour, it will take a lot of effort for that child not to follow the same path.

As parents, we try our best to teach our children good values at home, like honesty, kindness, and hard work. But if we allow them to spend too much time with friends or groups that have bad habits, all our efforts can be wasted. It is just like pouring clean water into a dirty container; no matter how clean the water is, it will still get contaminated. That is why it is important to monitor the kind of friends our children keep and the environment they spend time in.

Religion can also play a role in shaping children’s values. If used the right way, it can guide them to make better decisions and live morally upright lives. Sadly, some people use religion to manipulate others, which can create more harm than good. We need religious leaders who will genuinely teach people the right values and help reduce the level of immorality in our society.

In the end, we can not control everything in the world, but we can do our best to prepare our children. We can teach them strong values, help them build confidence, and guide them to choose the right company. The environment will always have an influence, whether good or bad, but with the right foundation, our children will have a better chance of growing into responsible adults.
