When the World Burns and We Look Away

It breaks my heart to see how the world is slowly sliding into chaos while many of us are too distracted to notice. We spend so much of our time talking about the latest iPhones, football matches, or trending topics on social media, while real danger is growing around us. Everywhere you look, there’s news of war, one country attacking another, innocent people losing their lives, and yet there’s hardly any serious action to stop it. Recently, Israel attacked Qatar, and Russia sent drones into Poland, and I couldn’t help but feel deeply worried. These are not small incidents. They are signs that we are standing on the edge of something bigger, maybe even a third world war.

I often sit and wonder why we are fighting in the first place? What exactly are we killing each other for? Some people argue that if there is no war, there will be no peace. Honestly, I don’t understand where that idea came from. How can something so destructive bring peace? If animals can coexist in harmony, why can’t we, as human beings with more intelligence, find a way to live peacefully? It’s sad because, deep down, I believe we all want a better life. We want safety, food, love, and a future for our children. So why do we keep destroying the very world we live in?

The truth is, as long as we keep talking about the strong taking over the weak, there will always be problems. The world has changed. Even weaker nations now have allies ready to fight on their behalf. This only makes wars grow bigger and deadlier. When two powerful countries clash, innocent people suffer the most. Regular citizens like you and me don’t have bunkers to hide in or private jets to escape. We are left to struggle, while those in power care more about profit, control, and pride than about human lives.

What makes it even worse is that many of us are busy chasing things that won’t matter if war truly breaks out. We fight over money, fame, and petty issues as if life will continue the same way forever. If war erupts today, all the wealth, gadgets, and status we chase will mean nothing. It’s almost like we are blind to what truly matters: unity, love, and survival.

Humans can be very difficult to deal with. We like to believe we are wise, but often, our so-called wisdom fails us. I personally believe that some of these terrible things are signs of the end times, just as the Bible says. The world is moving toward a place where good and evil will clash more openly. It’s frightening, but it also reminds me that our focus shouldn’t just be on temporary things.

Maybe we can’t stop all the wars, but we can start by choosing peace in our own lives, in our families, communities, and nations. If enough of us wake up, maybe, just maybe, we can make this world a better place before it’s too late.
