Week #276: Doing Good Without Looking at

Whom The title of this post was my mother's favorite refrain and her greatest teaching. He always instilled in us the need to help people without any interest other than the good and happiness of others, because in his own words, it was the greatest example of love and kindness of the human being.

For this reason, I did not find a better pretext than this to participate in the proposal of @galenkp and participate in the initiative that you propose this week and specifically in issue number three.  Looking at what I have done with my life, I must say that I can give examples of actions that I have done and do selflessly and without expecting anything in return. And, I don't consider myself a hero or anything like that, but doing these things gives me much more than material wealth because it gives me happiness and the feeling of making others happy. Donate blood The first example I can give about what I do for others selflessly is that I am a blood donor and voluntarily. It is true that, on some occasions, friends have seen me, to donate to a family member for a certain disease, but, most of the time, I do not know who the blood I give will go to and I am not interested because the only thing I know is that the destination of my blood is to save a life. I can tell you that it is what I am most satisfied to do. Helping vulnerable people The elderly, children and the most needy awaken in me a need for permanent help. In my community I have the possibility of helping children who have a critical economic situation at home and, although I am not able to solve their problems, I have helped them with clothes, food and some other help with their school materials. But, there is an example that has me very busy at the/ moment.  It turns out that a woman moved to my neighborhood who had a leg amputated and, on my wife's daily walk in front of her house, they managed to establish a beautiful friendship. That friendship has spread and, also, he was part of that circle of friends. But, what really makes me very happy is to be able to help her with our conversations on topics of common interest, to go to her house to have a coffee or, like yesterday, she invited us to lunch and, today, she and her daughter come to eat at our house.  We don't feel sorry for her, because that doesn't help her. We share mutual interests, I do some errands that she needs, but we try to make her feel useful and necessary.
