Hello, Hivers! How was your weekend? I hope you had a great time and made some wonderful memories!
Let me share how mine went.
Last Saturday, I went out with my friends. And guess what? We went ice skating in SM Megamall (a big shopping center right at the center of town). You see, this was my second time to do ice skating. The first time was more than a decade ago and I remember slipping and falling on the ice countless times. This time around, I tried to be more careful, and I managed to keep my balance. Thus, a solo photo of me standing on the ice without holding the rail. Yes, that’s a win in my book! Hooray! 🎉
I had been wanting to do ice skating for years now because I wanted to feel the excitement and the cold again. It was not much of an adventure because I didn’t want to injure myself. I was really trying to be careful. My goal was to just keep my balance. Baby steps, eh? I did it and I was proud of myself. We stayed in the rink for less than an hour until hunger kicked in. So we left in search of food. I must say good food. But I’ll save that part for another blog. Let’s just say it was fun and totally photo-worthy! 😂
Then came Sunday—Father’s Day! I woke up late (Sunday is usually my day to catch up on sleep; and my family knows not to bother me, besides Saturday tired me out 😂). As soon as I went down, we had brunch (too late for breakfast but a bit early for lunch). Then, I cleaned the house. At 1:30PM, we were ready to leave for church. Sunday is always church day. After the mass, we headed to Goldilocks (a well-known cake shop here). We checked what’s available and my daughter opted for chocolate cherry torte. She was captivated by the cherries on top. Once home, we gathered around, sang a cheerful Father’s Day song, blew out the candles, and enjoyed the cake together. But the fun didn’t stop there. After that, we headed up to the roof deck (my husband had already set up the videoke). There, we sang to our hearts’ content until 9pm.
My family loves to sing. We have our own videoke set and whenever we can, we always sing. (Spoiler: I’m not a great singer, but I enjoy it so much anyway. Haha!). My husband, on the other hand, has a good singing voice. We sang and sang (on and off keys). Meanwhile, our daughter was happily coloring and tracing letters beside us. We lost track of time. Before we knew it, it was already dark and the clock said it’s 9pm - time to end the fun!
We usually go for simple yet meaningful celebrations, and this weekend was no exception. Just being together, laughing, singing, and creating memories at home is more than enough. So that’s how our weekend went. Hope you all had a great father’s day celebration, too.
Thank you for reading. See you next time.
