Hello Hivers and Hive Gardeners! Hope you are all having a great day!

Last week, I shared our first attempt at managing a mini-garden on our roof deck. We were filled with excitement and hope.

Today, I’d like to give you a little update on how things are going.

First, our moringa tree has started to grow! Its fresh green leaves have finally appeared, and seeing them brought big smiles to our faces.

Next up, we have the chili plant. As mentioned previously, my hubby specifically planted this because he wants to spice up his dishes. When I took a photo of it last week, there were no leaves yet, but now, you can see that the leaves are swaying gently from side to side. It’s a happy sight.

Unfortunately, we were disappointed and sad to see our cucumber losing its grip. It was all well and vigorous last week but then, it suddenly withered and died. My husband said it was because of some ants and birds that came to peck at it. So, we did some cleaning. However, birds from the sky keep on making our roofdeck their stopover every time. We can’t do anything about it. I guess they like the steel matting that we put around the area for safety. It’s a perfect spot for them to rest after flying around. We welcome the birds though. We love watching them.

But when something ends, something new begins. Just this week, I spotted a sprout pushing through the soil. It’s a kind of Chinese cabbage we call “pechay.” I’m hopeful it will thrive in our little rooftop garden, and we’ll do our best to give it the care it needs to grow strong.

Lastly, I found this new plant. Google told me this is called “Peperomia pellucida” or commonly known as pepper elder or shining bush plant. I am familiar with this plant (I recognize the appearance but not the name) because when we were younger we used this to treat fresh wounds. We would smash it with a small rock and then put it on the wound and cover it in a bandage. For some reasons, the wound would heal faster. So this is a good plant. I am happy I found it here in our mini-garden. It brings good memories.

One day, I’ll try to take photos of the birds but they often fly away whenever we come near them. So, I won’t promise anything. Hahaha!

I hope that as you read this little adventure of ours, your face lights up and a happy smile comes out. It is always good to smile.

Happy Tuesday, my friends, my dear hivers! Let’s stay happy and always do things that we love doing!

Until then, see you in my next blog!

The photos are mine. They were taken using Samsung Galaxy A26 and edited in photocollage.com.
