When I said that hibiscuses are the last flowers that bloom in my garden, I completely forgot that this year I also planted gladioli.
I really like gladioli, but at the same time I don't like the difficulties associated with their cultivation. In my region, the main problem is that it is necessary to dig up the bulbs in the fall and plant them again in the spring.
Even global warming has not solved this problem. Previously, the frosts were much stronger, but there was also a thick layer of snow, which increased the chances of survival for all bulbous colours.
Now frosts are very rare. But the problem is that snow is even rarer. And now nothing protects the soil from sudden frost.
By the way, it also reflected on my lilies! This year, many of them never went up. The bulbs probably died in the winter. Now in the fall I will have to replenish my collection by buying new bulbs. To be honest, all this is quite tiring and also quite expensive. I'm starting to think that probably all my ornamental garden will be grown in flowerpots, which I will take into the house for the cold period. It's certainly not very convenient, but with such weather changes, I just don't see any other options.
