Cities are different. Megacities and cosy provincial. Modern and old. Each of them has its own charm. In every city there will definitely be a place where you will want to return again, and one where you will never want to return. Everything is always ambiguous.
Today I had a short trip to Bucha. It was a business trip, but I managed to take a few photos. In 2022, Bucha became known to the whole world because of the atrocities of the russian occupiers, who killed civilians en masse. If someone wants to tell me that this is not true, then do not forget that I live in this region and witnessed those events. I know it's true.
But if you saw Bucha today, it would be hard for you to believe that this tragedy was here just three years ago. The city came to life and regained its charm. It's a small provincial town near Kyiv. I love it for the abundance of colours and greenery. For small cafes and cosy shops, where you are greeted as a welcome guest.
Do you know what the russian occupiers said? They said, "How dare you live so well?"
Sounds paradoxical! They are not used to the fact that a provincial town can be beautiful and well-groomed. According to their concepts, there should be dirt and poverty in the province.
I like that despite the war, people care about the beauty of the city in which they live. The destruction that occurs after the russian shelling is being eliminated. No one is going to give up. No one is going to live in the mud, as is customary in the “russian world” and where they want to drag everyone else.
What I see inspires me. I dream of also planting hydrangeas near my house to make my region even more beautiful.
