Self-cultivation from the El Manzanillo Shelter

Hello dear friends of Hive Garden, I want to share with you a weed self-cultivation project that my friend Cesar Garzón, @elmanzanillo, and I have been working on. In Colombia, the cultivation of a maximum of 19 cannabis plants is permitted. We started with two plants, which we germinated from three feminized Amnesia Haze seeds, but one did not germinate. In this harvest, we collected 40 grams of flower. Although it is not a large amount, we are very happy with the quality of the flowers and, despite being our first crop, it was satisfactory, so we decided to start this new project.

Red Hot Cookies: This seed is from a well-known weed seed bank called Sweet Seeds. It's a hybrid with a 60% Sativa and 40% Indica percentage. The germination process is carried out in glasses with water for twelve hours, then they are transferred to damp napkins and stored in dark drawers for another twelve hours. When the radicle begins to emerge, they are transplanted into glasses with loose substrate and left in a dark place. When the first cotyledons emerge, they can be given some light, but not direct sunlight.

After ten days of transplanting, they are transferred to pots with a substrate rich in potassium, nitrogen, and phosphorus. They are illuminated with 30-watt LED bulbs. After three months of vegetation, they are given 12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness. This plant yielded approximately 80 grams.

We participated in the Farallones Cup, an event where the flowers of the registered contestants are judged. We entered with a strain called Northern Light, a very traditional indica. But what we most wanted to participate was knowing that we were ready to germinate high-quality flowers. We did very well; they congratulated me, and beyond that, we learned a lot and fell even more in love with self-cultivation.

A cheese seed is called. This seed was actually one of the richest and most productive in terms of quantity. It gave us over 100g. We never thought that a cannabis strain could smell and taste like cheese. It's spectacular. It didn't work out very well with this strain. From then on, we've planted, I think, around 40 varieties, to say the least, and like everything else in any crop, now that we're here in Manzanillo. We also grow peas, beans, onions, etc.

Now we'll show you a little bit about the process of transplanting a cannabis plant. This was the first time we've transplanted a plant of this size, and we're very happy with the process.

Here they are in the vegetative stage, 50 days after transplanting. They are doing very well so far, and their adaptation to the new soil is going very well, with strong roots and healthy leaves, and they are about to flower.

As you can see they have already started to flower and with 68 days so far they are all doing very well and 100% feminized.
