Hi Everyone,
Located on the ground floor EM Market Hall of Emsphere, the pop-up was themed around Tuntunzai, a round, sleepy-eyed capybara from China who’s been gaining popularity in Thailand. The setup on the floor was like walking into a cartoon bakery—warm lighting, pastel decor, and an enormous statue of Tuntunzai at the front in a baker's apron holding pastries.
The whole store was full of merch from plush toys, tote bags, stickers, mugs, and even little figures of Tuntunzai in Thai outfits riding tuk-tuks. Everything was themed and many items were Thailand-only limited. You could tell people came specifically to look for these special items. The store even had tiered gift giveaways based on how much you spent. They just want you to buy, buy and buy.
The event also teamed up with local and international cafes like The Coffee Club and Swensen’s to serve Tuntunzai-themed drinks and snacks. There were life-sized figures, photo booths, and backdrops themed around different bakery scenes. Even the walls had comic panels of Tuntunzai baking bread, lounging, and generally doing what capybaras do. The event have finished on the 26th of May but I thought it would be nice to share my visit with you all and hopefull,y you can catch the next pop up store when it arrives.
