No trip to Shanghai is complete without seeing the city from above, and there are many ways to do so. However, they all have one major drawback for photographers: you have to take pictures through glass panes, which means you have to deal with annoying reflections. At least that was the case until a few months ago. But then came “The Stage.”
Kein Shanghai-Trip ist komplett, ohne die Stadt von oben gesehen zu haben und es gibt wirklich viele Möglichkeiten dafür. Trotzdem haben sie alle einen wesentlichen Nachteil für Fotografen: Man muss durch Glasscheiben fotografieren und hat somit mit lästigen Spiegelungen zu kämpfen. Zumindest war das der Stadt bis vor einigen Monaten. Doch dann kam "The Stage".
The Stage is a spectacular viewing platform on the roof of Sinar Mas Plaza (also known as White Magnolia Plaza) in the Hongkou district of northern Bund, which opened in April 2025. It is located about 320 meters above the ground and offers a 360-degree outdoor view of Shanghai – from the Lujiazui skyline to the Bund.
The Stage ist eine spektakuläre, im April 2025 eröffnete Aussichtsplattform auf dem Dach des Sinar Mas Plaza (auch White Magnolia Plaza) im Stadtteil Hongkou, Nord-Bund. Sie befindet sich etwa 320 Meter über dem Boden und bietet eine 360‑Grad‑Außenansicht auf Shanghai – von der Skyline Lujiazui bis zum Bund.
Unlike many covered platforms, The Stage is completely open-air, which makes for a very impressive experience – fresh air and an unobstructed view that is hard to find in Shanghai. In addition, you can see all of the city's famous skyscrapers from here.
Im Gegensatz zu vielen überdachten Plattformen ist The Stage komplett im Freien, was das Erlebnis sehr eindrücklich macht – frische Luft und ein offener Blick, den man in dieser Form in Shanghai kaum findet. Außerdem hat man hier wirklich alle berühmten Wolkenkratzer der Stadt im Blickfeld.
When editing these photos, I deliberately chose a black-and-white look to create a contrast to this modern megacity and give the images a certain retro charm.
Bei der Nachbearbeitung dieser Aufnahmen entscheid ich mich bewusst fĂĽr einen Schwarz-WeiĂź-Look, um einen Kontrast zu dieser modernen Mega-City zu kreieren und den Bildern einen gewissen Retro-Charme zu verleihen.
