When a foreigner arrives, you rarely get close to truly intimate things abroad than when you are a local. Still, there are days when you're lucky. Like that day. We were invited there by a large family who were celebrating their wedding in the temple. For us it looked like the Arabian Nights. Glittering dresses and suits, jewelry, hats, headgear... unbelievable.
The ceremony lasted several hours. The priest had lit a fire, the holy fire, and the couple walked around it, tied together with a knot as a sign of togetherness.
A lot of people come to such a festival. When I did a rough calculation, I came to about 170. After the feast we went to the restaurant. There was vegetarian food, because it is forbidden to eat meat near the temple or during the ceremony. This all took about 6 hours.
The next day the party went on, this time in a hotel where there was food and drinks and dancing in the evening. Till late into the night it went on. Here again more guests came and a huge hall was then also fast times full. Sari for the women and suit for the man were obligatory and we quickly got a sari from the tailor and a suit. The time was short and at the end we still have it on time.
It was a special party, full of joy and mica. An event that we will never forget...
Als ein Ausländer kommt, man selten an wirklich intime dinge im Ausland heran, als wenn man Einheimischer ist. Trotzdem gibt es Tage da hat man Glück. Wie an diesem Tag. Dort wurden wir eingeladen von einer großen Familie, die gerade die Hochzeit im Tempel feierte. Für uns hat es ausgesehen wie aus 1001 Nacht. Glitzern Kleider und Anzüge.Schmuck, Hüte, Kopfbedeckungen... unglaublich.
Über mehrere Stunden ging die Zeremonie. Der Priester hatte ein Feuer angemacht, das heilige Feuer und darum ist das Paar gelaufen, mit einem Knoten zusammen gebunden, als Zeichen der Zusammengehörigkeit.
Zu so einem Fest kommen sehr viel Leute. Als ich mal so grob zusammen gerechnet habe, kam ich auch etwa 170. Nach dem Fest ging es zum Restaurant. Vegetarisches Essen gab es, denn es ist untersagt Fleisch zu essen in der Nähe des Tempels oder bei der Zeremonie. Dies alles dauerte etwa 6 Stunden.
Am nächsten Tag ging das Fest weiter, diese mal in einem Hotel wo abends Essen und Getränke sowie getanzt wurde. Bis spät in die Nacht ging es rund. Hier kamen nochmals mehr Gäste und ein rießiger Saal war dann auch schnell mal voll. Sari für die Frauen und Anzug für den Mann waren Pflicht.Schnell besorgten wir uns einen Sari bei der Schneiderin und einen Anzug. Die Zeit war knapp und am Schluss haben wir es noch pünktlich.
Es war ein besonderes Fest, voller Freude und Glimmer. Ein Event dass wir nie vergessen werden...
