*Hey everyone, it's a good Friday evening from this end , today also marks the end of the month, I hope the end of this month symbolises the end of stagnation in our lives, for this prompt from the Hive Learners table "TO BE FAMOUS" , seriously this is something I have once thought about this , so like, what if I just woke up one morning and boom, I am famous , my name is now everywhere, my pictures are all over social media, everybody then suddenly has an opinion about me, Omo honestly o, I don’t think it would be sweet at all, or even exciting the way people fantasize it, or see it, you know fame looks good from the outside, but when you look closely, you will see that there is always a price to pay.*
*So for me personally, I feel like fame will come with mixed feelings, on one side, it would definitely feel good to be recognized and appreciated for something I do, see just Imagine getting paid so well, then traveling, having access to certain things and also opportunities, and yes, my family would sure most likely be proud especially African families, the way they will use it to “
pepper their enemies ehn, they will start saying, that is my daughter, we have always known, even the uncle that has not called in like five years will now know my number, so that part would be funny but sweet in its own way.*
*But on the other side o, we know that having fame means losing your privacy, it is that time that people will now feel entitled to your life, one small thing you do, everybody will just have something to say, even your personal struggles will become public gist, and I don’t think I am even mentally ready for strangers to now start analyzing my life like it is a movie they paid for, I like my peace of mind too much for that.*
*Also, I have seen how this said fame changes relationships, people will start acting different , some will even be over friendly with you ,some will start forming beef out of no where, some will expect money because you are now big, and if you don’t meet their expectations like this, you become the villain it is a lot.*
*So now would I embrace the fame if it came? hmmm I would say yes ,I think so , but then carefully , I just won’t be chasing the spotlight with full chest , I will be more intentional about protecting my peace, my family, and also my space, I will enjoy the opportunities that fame brings, but I will also have to set some boundaries, no unnecessary drama, no trying to impress social media, no losing myself in the process.*
*Because at the end of the day, fame is not the goal at all, purpose and peace are the koko of the matter, if fame comes while I am doing what I love, then that's fine, but if it ever gets too chaotic, just know I will disappear like Simi when she got pregnant with her daughter Deja, you know that small break and silence won’t kill anybody.*
*So yes, I would just embrace it… but slowly, with wisdom and plenty of self-control, i still want to be able to walk to the market in peace without someone recording me like documentary, so let me enjoy life small, abeg.*
