Looking back, It's quite interesting how much transportation has evolved over the years.
Centuries ago, people only moved about with their legs. They would walk long distances on foot. Maybe that helped them to be fit. But now that I think about it, I wonder how much their feet would hurt, or if they just got used to it.
Eventually, animals were also used as a means of transport. Horses for example were found to be a reliable means of transportation. Horses are strong and can run for long distances without getting tired, so that explains the popular choice of horses. The use of horses even evolved as carts were introduced. It brought about a new, comfortable and elite means of transportation. Horses weren't the only animals used for transportation. Camels have been used over time for long distance transportation, especially in places like the desert. The choice of camels for such journeys lies in their ability to go a long time without needing water.

We also had bicycles at some point as a means of transportation. Truly, it was faster and more efficient. Bicycles gave the ability to go even longer distances.
The period of automation came eventually. Cars were invented. Motorcycles too. Cars became the primary means of transportation. Over time, cars evolved and got better. The changes with cars have been a constant thing. In today's age, we're transitioning from petrol based cars to electric cars. That's how much progress we've made.
I won't fail to mention Aeroplanes. In my opinion, the aeroplane is one of the most impactful inventions ever made. It's faster and better for long distance travels like traveling between states, countries and continents.
Sometimes I wonder what the world would be like if aeroplanes were never invented. No doubt, aeroplanes were revolutionary to transportation. People are able to travel across continents, in the air, while sitting comfortably, all thanks to aeroplanes.
There are also trains. That's another wonderful means of transportation. With trains, more people and goods can be transported.
Over time we've seen transportation evolve and it keeps getting better. Transportation is something that is crucial. It adds to every economy. The transportation sector is one of the many drivers of most economies. That's how important it is. If you look at it, we really can't function without a means of transportation.
I am eager to see what transportation would be like 50 years from now. Who knows, maybe some of the means of transportation we have now would be long gone.
