Help me test the Zoom Feature, Mr. Bird!

A bird was hunting for worms as I was resting in the Volksgarten, a public garden, in Vienna.

This was a good opportunity to make a few more tests with my Panasonic Lumix DC-TZ90, so I took out the camera and zoomed in on the little guy.

With my Canon IXUS 210, this would be an impossible shot. It would surely came out totally blurry. On the other hand, the Lumix DC-TZ90 is on a whole different level. You can even see the worm squirming in the bird's beak. What an amazing quality.

After he had his little snack, the bird seemed to become aware of me... and he started to look around, as if he was suspecting I would prey on him.

Luckily for him, I was only shooting with a camera and not a gun! 🙃

He kept looking behind his shoulder for a little longer. He relaxed after a while, when he realised I meant no harm. He was quite relieved to see that I wasn't going after his dinner, too. Worms might be tasty and nutritious, but I prefer to eat something else.

Here's a shot of the area, without any zoom, so you can have an idea of the distance between me and the little critter.

When I got this camera, I was deciding between this model, the Panasonic Lumix DC-TZ90, and a Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-HX350.

The Panasonic has an Optical Zoom Level of 30X. The Sony has an Optical Zoom Level of 50X.

However, after digging through many reviews and opinions, the consensus was that the only thing where Sony won was the Zoom level. In all the other categories, the Panasonic came ahead.

Since the Zoom was important to me but not the most important factor, I opted for the Lumix DC-TZ90 and so far, I'm very happy with my decision.

This is an excellent camera at a very reasonable price.
