Exploring the oldest Catholic church and its surroundings in Ghent, Belgium St. Nicholas Church(Sint-Niklaaskerk)

Hello travelers

In today's blog I will take you with me to visit one of my favorite cities in Belgium, if you check my older blogs you will find information about the other cities I explored when I was in Belgium, I have one regret that I didn't have time to visit Bruges, but this city will be left for next time because I will definitely be back in Belgium again.

And if I had to make a top of the cities that we visited in Belgium this top would look like this, first place is Antwerp, second place is Ghent, third place is Dinant, and last place would be Brussels (this city did not manage to get to my heart, I saw here what I would not have wanted to see in a European city).

But let's enjoy Ghent together and the goals we'll tick off in today's blog.

A detail of our trip through Belgium was that here we traveled between the cities we visited by train, although this means of transportation seemed a bit expensive, for several days we used the train several times and we paid 100euro for two people, and it was a bit inconvenient because the ticket we bought was a card on which we had to write with a pen the place of departure and destination, I have never encountered this kind of tickets.

I drew a few conclusions after visiting Ghent, here I saw many students (I have a blog from the University here, it's sensational), I didn't see any cars or streets blocked by cars (I'm not sure, but probably the access of cars in the center was restricted) and what I liked the most, that's why this city gained my respect, is the fact that almost everyone is cycling.

The architecture of the city is amazing, the first attraction we saw was the St. Michael's bridge, even if it was raining outside, and yes, we were lucky with a pretty bad weather, it rained a lot.

After crossing the bridge we turned onto a street (Jan van Stopenberghestraat), and here walking down the street I could observe the same thing, a lot of people are moving by bike, more I saw a few terraces that had a few tables outside.

We were close to the main objective we wanted to visit when somewhere in the distance we saw a strange construction, something very big, I postponed for a while the visit of the church until I realized what that construction was.

That building was the Municipal Pavilion, now between you and me, I can't explain what this building is doing here in the historic center of the city, if any of you who visit my blog knows what this building is, what is its usefulness, please write me in the comments, thank you.

Very close to this strange construction we could see the Bell Tower (Het Belfort van Gent), which unfortunately we didn't get to climb, but if you are in Ghent and want to have a view of the city from the top I recommend the Bell Tower.

Finally after exploring the surroundings we arrive at the church of St. Nicholas, since the first steps inside I can say that impressed me, now I must admit that I like very much to visit these churches, if you check my posts you can see many cathedrals, churches that I have shared with you.

After a few hours of exploring this part of Ghent, we reached the end of today's blog, it was a hard day especially because we walked a lot in the rain (we had no umbrella), this made us very tired.

THE END!

If you liked what you saw and read here please don't forget to give a LiKe, Follow, reBlog or a Comment, for all this I thank you, and until the next post I say goodbye.

P.S. The attached picture you have just seen are taken by me with my mobile phone(Samsung Galaxy S21), and the text is also designed by me.
