Hello travelers

In today's blog we are going back to Warsaw, the capital of Poland, a very beautiful city, but today we are not walking around the city, we are not walking, but we are going to a sensational place, we are going to discover the meteoric evolution of technology in Poland, and we could do that just by visiting the National Museum of Technology.

Some time ago if you visit my travel blogs you can find the amazing Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw, an emblematic building in the center of Warsaw (to make it even easier for you this blog you can see it right here).

Exactly in the same building there is this museum of technology, a space of a little over a thousand square meters where the evolution of technology in Poland is presented.

I start by telling you that the price of an entrance ticket is 25zloti/6,5$/person, and the visiting hours are from Tuesday to Sunday between 9-18, Monday is closed.

We bought the tickets directly from the ticket office inside the museum, you should know that inside the museum you are not allowed with luggage/backpacks/other things like that, for that you have to leave your luggage/backpacks in some lockers with key, what can I say, the museum amazed us since the entrance, this after we scanned the ticket.

The museum is very well organized in several categories of evolution, with this I will start with the contribution of scientists over time (if you are interested in the contribution of Poles to science you can find it here).

We move to the next room where we can discover several types of computers, here I mean the ones you use to do calculations, we can also see typewriters, I have a lump in my throat, you know why, because many of the objects here I had at home, unfortunately considering them old-fashioned I gave them to people who collect old things.

The two-part permanent exhibition “Sources of energy of civilization – the history of fossil fuels and Ignacy Łukasiewicz – the pioneer of the oil industry” is an exhibition presenting the process of extracting and processing raw materials, such as crude oil, hard coal or natural gas. The first part of the exhibition focuses on the history of energy sources and the presentation of their extraction techniques. The second part of the exhibition is a tribute to the great inventor Ignacy Łukasiewicz, referring to the 200th anniversary of his birth. The issues raised within this exhibition project are intertwined. It is impossible to tell the story of fossil fuels without the story of Ignacy Łukasiewicz. On the one hand, we have a story about a man with unquestionable merits in the field of oil mining – to the methods of exploration, extraction and finally processing of the raw material, and on the other hand, a huge range of topics related to the formation of high-energy raw materials, which are the backbone of the world’s energy industry.

With our jaws agape we head to the last area of the museum, an equally interesting one, the history of Polish transportation, I was amazed in this area too because I saw the model of the bicycle my grandmother used to use when she went to the village for food.
