Porto Vathy beach, turquoise water, marble and sunshine on the island of Thassos(Greece)
Hello, travelers!
Today we will go together to discover a spectacular place, where wild nature blends perfectly with man-made nature.
We were staying in Limenaria, so the journey here was quite long, even though the distance was not that great, around 47 kilometers, and due to speed restrictions, it took us over an hour to cover this distance.
I had seen many pictures on the internet, so my expectations were quite high.
For those who visit the island and, of course, want to get to this beach, you should know that the last 4 kilometers are terrible, so you need to arm yourself with patience (that is, if you care about your car). Our car is a normal one, so with a little patience and a lot of dust, we managed to reach our destination.
In this area, we visited two beaches, one of the most famous beaches on the island of Thassos and the beach we are visiting today.
We visited Thassos Island in June, which is the off-season for tourism in Greece, so the island wasn't very crowded. We don't really like crowds, especially in the summer when it's very hot outside, and when the heat is combined with crowds, it's unpleasant for us.
There is no parking near Porto Vathy beach, so we parked the car on the side of the road. I kept wondering where dozens and hundreds of cars would be parked in this area during the busy season.
Being in the off-season, the main beach was not equipped, the only equipped areas were the private ones belonging to a luxury hotel, but being in the off-season, even the private beaches were not open to tourists.
As I wrote, only the private beaches were set up, but they were not open.
There is a marble quarry right next to the beach, so let's go visit it.
Huge blocks of marble waiting to be processed.
Dear visitors, I hope you enjoyed today's walk, during which we explored Porto Vathy beach on the island of Thassos.
