Lego Game Boy Modded to Play Real Game Boy Games

If you are in the market for the Lego Nintendo Game Boy and are bummed it doesn’t play games, a modder has fixed that. While this is probably never going to be a mainstream, or even private, release, it is still amazing to see someone did the mod that most buying this set wish they could.

Not a Raspberry Pi, This Is A Custom Game Boy

The Verge interviewed Natalie the Nerd who went into detail about her development. Right off the bat, this is not a Raspberry Pi mod that seems to be the crutch everyone goes for when creating these mods.

This custom Lego Game Boy is built using real Nintendo Game Boy parts on a real circuit board that Natalie prepared herself. This takes this creation to a whole new level of hardware design and impressiveness.

I am not against people using Raspberry Pi’s, just whenever you hear about a project like this, it is 99% of the time based on a Raspberry Pi inside. https://youtu.be/7i6m3wvQ-Ds

Is This 4D Gaming?

Imagine playing Tetris and blocks falling on the screen but then a loose block falls off your Lego Game Boy and falls. Would that be 4D gaming?

Seriously though, Natalie the Nerd is planning on adding this mod to her growing collection of designs and other modding accessories that you can purchase. This is great news if you are skilled at soldering, wiring, and all those technical skills that I simply do not have.

I write. I know my limitations in life.

I love seeing things like this, it is amazing work, it is an awesome setup, and even cooler that the developer will be working on making it available for others to follow their work easily.

What do you think? Anyone out there willing to try something similar with that Xbox 360 Megabloks release (affiliate link)?
