Even people that dislike Tower Defense (TD) games, such as myself, were enamored with this new take on the genre. Honestly, for me it was the graphics and aura, it was unique, using plants to fend of a zombie invasion? Sign me up. Graphicall the original Plants vs Zombies (PVZ) was impressive, obviously going for a family friendly look while most TD games around this time were going for pixelated looks that just do not fit the Tower Defense genre. Now, in 2025, we are seeing an HD update called Plants vs Zombies Replanted.
The Devil is in the Details
HD remakes can be hit or miss with fans. If too much is changed in the process of updating the graphics and audio then hardcore fans will likely not support it. Do not change enough and again, hardcore fans will likely not bother. Developers are in a bad place with any remake.
Plants vs Zombies Replanted seems to be keeping changes to the graphics and audio with a few major changes collected in their own separate area. Obviously, the graphics and audio are improved but a new game mode is available as well.

Game Modes and Platform Exclusives
Via GameShare on the Nintendo Switch 2, you can play a local cooperative mode with a friend. The cool thing is, only one copy of the game is required, but you will need two Nintendo Switch 2’s.
This mode also allows you to play head-to-head to find out who is the best Plants vs Zombies Replanted player.
If you are an EA Play Pro member then you get a retro Peashooter skin.
Sadly, nothing platform specific for Xbox One, X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, or Steam gamers.
Grab Plants vs Zombies Replanted in your platforms digital store for about $20.
