I am not sure what took so long but the classic animation, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer finally got a video game. For those that do not know, this classic animation has probably been shown each Christmas holiday season for decades on some channel. Originally released in 1964, created for NBC, this classic animation special has become a staple for programming around this holiday season – like Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin around Halloween (another classic that deserves a game). Now fans can play the game based on the classic animation.
Classic License, Classic Gameplay
From what I can tell from the trailer fans can expect a 3D adventure, something like the 101 Dalmations 2 game on the original PlayStation. A rather non-violent 3D adventure collecting things and helping other characters in each level.
What is interesting about Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is how close it appears to cling to the classic animation. It makes sense considering how the classic animation looked like most of us remember video games being when we played them in the 80s anyhow.

All the Characters Are Accounted For
From the story telling Sam the Snowman to the reindeer family, Hermey and Yukon Corneilus and others, they are all here. The Island of Misfit toys and Bumble the giant abominable snowman/yeti creature is bigger than life just like he should be.
Seriously, if you were a fan of the animation then you are probably in the market for playing this. Maybe you have children, or gasp, grandchildren, that are fans of the television special and you want to surprise them.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam. It is about $40 as of this writing. The Steam version has a 10% launch discount in place for a limited time.
