Acting The Fool

I think it's real important to embrace the fool within. I mean what sort of life would you be leading if you didn't act the fool every now and again. Imagine the many lessons, you would have missed out on and in this day and age, shit is real serious, that if we are to navigate these stormy seas, we better find the time to be foolish. Just to lighten shit up.

There are also many different ways in which you can be foolish, from foolish enough to fuck up your own life or just foolish enough to walk away from certain situations with a big smile on your face. Foolishness, does have a place in our society.

I have been stupid foolish in the past. One memory that is at the forefront of my mind, was when I was in my early twenties, as a nursing student, haven't found myself very drunk and convinced that I could get my foot on the shoulder of a friend of mine. A friend that was over 6 foot. Yes, clearly I was not in my right mind and yes of course I tried it and ended up twisting my knee.

My late teens, I done some stupid shite. Like riding my bike whilst tipsy and crashing into a tree, sending myself flying and twisting the handle bars on my bike and telling my parents, a dog ran out in front of me and I had to swerve to miss it, hence why I crashed into a tree. ( sorry tree)

Today, I enjoy being a different type of foolish. Well what others might consider being foolish. Going down the slide at the playground, skipping round the town with my daughter, just being my playful self.

Laughter and humour are a huge part of who I am and where I come from. Us Irish pride ourselves on being funny feckers, laughter is one of our best medicines. There is nothing that can't be improved upon with some laughter, nothing that can't be soften by some humour. It's how we deal with our shite and I like to think that we are rather good at it.

Like I said earlier, there are different types of foolishness. I'm not really a fan of being so foolish that you put others or yourself in danger. I am happy to say that I have never been that kind of foolish myself. But silly, silly foolish I like. Life is so serious, that the perfect antidote, is just being silly, from time to time.
