Emotions Are Running High

With emotions running high, it's hard to think straight. It's all girls in my home, except for Rusty our male dog and our two new tom cats, that my daughters rescued. Which don't get a long. Not yet anyway, we have to try and keep them separated for now. Because when they first met they fought.

It's not easy to re home animals here. There are just too many cats and dogs without homes. And they are being left to fend for themselves. My eldest found the ginger cat, when he was still young. He was being chased by dogs. She stayed with him and then tried to find out where he lived, but no one knew. So he came home with her.

The newest one, he just followed my middle daughter home. He would not leave, again we tried to find his home. He was very skinny, but was friendly, so he obviously had lived in a home before. So now we have three males in our family. But still us girls are ahead, as there is 7 of us. And yes, emotions do run high.

It's one big ball game, being perimenopausal, whilst having two teenager daughters. The roof does get blown off our truck sometimes, by the sheer impact of some of the words spoken, or screamed out. It is like walking on eggshells sometimes. Having to be on high alert and able to read between some of the lines. So that I can do my best, when I'm trying to handle such a situation.

It's hard for me not to get irritated and snap back sometimes. Then comes the guilt for reacting that way. But then also the frustration, because I was reacting to them. And it's really difficult for teenagers to be able to take responsibility for their own actions. But that is all part of the learning. This is how they learn, by expressing their emotions so strongly. That it is confronting. But I find that I also do it.

So yeah, I'm not lying, when I say emotions are running high. Time out is the best really, some breathing space, you know to help clear the air. It's crazy how heavy the air can feel, when you are in such a situation, where you say something, that triggers someone, or they just take it the wrong way. Then it kind of takes on a life of it's own and you're just over here, trying to back step. Which only makes it rest, so best to scatter then.

Yeah that's a part of my life right now. Many emotions, many triggers and lots of scattering to our different corners.
