This year, I made a promise to myself, that I was going to make more time to do the things that I love. With dancing being one of the main things, but in more natural settings, especially drug an alcohol free spaces. I have never been a big drinker, so I can get really irritated, when drunk folk bump into me when I am dancing. I just don't really enjoy, the whole atmosphere that comes with alcohol. How much it can change people, how disconnected they become.

Last week, I tried contact dance, for the first time and really enjoyed it, once I was able to get out of my head and just flow with it. Dancing with other people is quite new to me, it's a huge step forward in allowing others into my space, in trusting them. Today there was an contact Jam out in nature, down by the river. It's one of my favourite places. But I haven't been there for quite a while, not since I moved.

It's so beautiful down by the river, surrounded by mountains. The sun was shining, it was the perfect weather to be dancing outdoors. With my bare feet on the ground and live music from some friends, it wasn't long before we were all dancing, to the wonderful sound, of the river, the piano, trumpet and guitar. It was magical.

This new year, didn't start off too well for me, what with my back problems and ringing in the year, from my bed. But I have been saying that I needed to be more gentle with myself, so in a way I have been, as there is nothing more gentle then being still. That's been a huge part of my healing, learning to surrender and trusting in the process when I do.

We danced on and off for about 4 hours. I danced mostly by myself and I also enjoyed watching those who have been doing it longer, watching how they danced with each other. When I did, get involved, I enjoyed how playful it was. When we finished, I walked home. A walk that included me scaling up a cliff face, to get to the valley I currently live in. I enjoyed this just as much as I did the dancing. It felt so good, to be fully mobile again. 2025 is going to be a good year for me, after a bit of a rocky start. I have high hopes for what lies in wait for me. Doing more of what I love.
