"Such a creep"
He seemed pretty normal when I first met him. My best friend had dated his brother a few years back, but they had kept in contact. Our plan was to go to a Reggae festival in London, it was a whole day event, finishing late in the night. We needed a place to crash afterwards, as there were no trains at that tine and the ex's brother, happened to live within walking distance of the venue. In hindsight we could have gotten buses, but it would have taken us ages. It seemed like the right thing to do, to accept his offer, that we return to his place and spend the night. My best friend knew him after all, so he wasn't exactly a stranger.
He also came to the festival and I did notice him looking me up and down a few times, just ignore it, that's what I told myself. But there was something about him that made me uncomfortable. It was easy to ignore him during the festival, I just stayed close to my friend and enjoyed the music. But then it came time for us to go home. Suddenly there he was next to us, trying to put his arm around me. I gave a nervous laugh and walked ahead, he just looked at me and winked, which made me feel even worse.
I tried to tell my friend how I felt, but she was a little tipsy and just laughed it off, " oh don't mind him, he just flirts with everyone". We got back to his place and I said I wanted to sleep, my friend wanted to stay up and drink a bit, but I said I was too tired. Later on I hear the door to the room I was sleeping in open. I assumed it was my friend, but no, it was the creepy guy. I pretended to sleep, he attempted to get into the bed with me, at which stage I screamed and my friend ran in. " Oh I thought this was my room", he said. But I knew he was lying, he took his time making his way over to the bed, before trying to get in next to me. He knew exactly what he was doing.
This free write was a little difficult to write, as it is something that I experienced first hand. I left out somethings, as I am not quite ready to share it. I wish had followed my gut instinct back then, but I was in my early 20's and pretty naive. That incident taught me a lot, it was a hard lesson though.
