My days have been long and productive. As I reach the weekend, with only one day off, I thought to look back over these last few days. I have been getting better at looking after myself. Both eating and sleeping better, which really does do a lot, in helping me to stay focused and on top of things. It's simple really, eat well and get enough sleep and you you will find that you can handle, what life throws at you. Simple, but yet some of us struggle to keep it up, because we are just not very good at putting ourselves first.
Monday saw me working in the morning and afternoon and then heading off to a birthday party with my youngest daughters. It was one of her friends, eighth birthday. Her mum ( who is a good friend of mine), organised the party in a skate park down by the coast. I had never been there, so I was happy to get to see it. I must say, it is was a wonderful place for the party, as the kids loved biking and skating around.
It also had a pretty awesome playground. But my favourite, was the pond, which had lots of tortoise and ducks in it. It was surrounded by trees, which made the most beautiful reflections in the water, which you can see from the picture above. It was a very full day and I was pretty exhausted by the end of it, but I achieved a lot and that overshadowed how tired I felt.
Tuesday saw me back in the garden, tending to the soil and the vegetables. I woke up that morning and it was actually quite fresh, so I had to wear a cardigan to work. It wasn't long before I took it off though. Once the sun was up, it began to get warm and soon I was working up a sweat. I worked for three hours, then came back later in the day, to make a stone path, from the house to the pool.
I didn't take any photos of it, maybe I will next time I am there. I found some relatively flat rocks around the property and lined them up, then one by one, I dug them into the soil. I do enjoy this type of work. I find it very meditative. The laying of stones, of creating something that will be used by others. An ancient art of simple building, that connects me to the many others who have build such things down through the ages.
Wednesday was another early start, once again I was working outside, alongside my 91 year old neighbour. I was strimming, then I helped to empty one of her compost piles, which I used to feed her citrus trees. Then we set about chopping up some off cuts from the plants she had cut back, so that we could add begin to create new compost.
Thursday I had some work in town, which meant I could also grab some fruit and veg from the weekly farmers market. Then I got home and had to walk my daughter back into town, as she had kickboxing. Later on I had to do some watering on another piece of land. So another rather full day.
That brings us up to today. I had a cleaning job in the morning. Then I got home, done some work around the land and truck and decided to chill for a while. As I sat on my bed, I spied my Sheela Na Gig cards and decided to pull one and well you can see from yourself, what I pulled. Perfect I would say. I do love those cards, they are always on point. I think we can all probably take something away from this cards wonderful message and find the time to just Be.
