Hello everyone, how's your day going? Today I'm sharing the process of this drawing based on Finley, a character from a recent horror game called Indigo Park 🐍🎡.
Me inspire a hacer este dibujo porque indigo park se ha convertido en mi segundo juego estilo mascot horror favorito, el juego está saliendo por episodios, el primero salió el año pasado y se espera el segundo para este. Me emociona mucho ya que al finalizar la primera parte nos dan un pequeño vistazo del área en la que jugaremos en su siguiente capitulo y eso es el área de Finley la serpiente marina.
En los videojuegos siempre me han gustado los mundos de agua, que tengan que ver con creaturas marinas, océanos, ríos, son mis ambientes favoritos y siendo que el episodio dos va a desarrollarse en un área estilo acuario en el parque de atracciones me emociona mucho.
I was inspired to make this drawing because Indigo Park has become my second favorite Mascot Horror-style game. The game is coming out in episodes. The first one came out last year, and the second is expected this year. I'm really excited because at the end of the first part, they give us a small glimpse of the area we'll be playing in in the next chapter, and that's Finley the Sea Serpent's area.In video games, I've always loved aquatic worlds, anything involving marine creatures, oceans, and rivers. They're my favorite environments. Since episode two is set in an aquarium-style area in the amusement park, I'm really excited.

En mi fanart voy a hacer una versión más “realista” de Finley, en el juego los personajes tienen esta versión animada la cual es esta del que dibujare, sin embargo, también existe una versiona alterna más realista que sería su versión “mala” así que me estaré basándome en esa versión.

For my fan art, I'm going to make a more "realistic" version of Finley. In the game, the characters have this animated version, which is the one I'll be drawing. However, there's also a more realistic alternate version that would be his "evil" version, so I'll be basing my work on that version.
Es la primera vez que dibujo algo como una serpiente marina así que veamos como resulta.
Yo siempre comienzo con bocetos muy garabatos solo para fijar la posición y más o menos la forma y el tamaño que abarcara cada cosa en el lienzo. Aquí están los 3 primeros bocetos que hago para luego pasar otros delineados más limpios y con más detalles.
This is the first time I've drawn something like a sea serpent, so let's see how it turns out.I always start with very scribble-like sketches just to establish the position and roughly the shape and size that each object will take on the canvas. Here are the first three sketches I make, and then I go on to create cleaner, more detailed outlines.
En esta ocasión voy a pasar a aplicar color en una sola capa ya que para el efecto que quiero lograr en el dibujo es la técnica que me sirve, agregando profundidad y delineado al pintar cada parte.
Al terminarlo añado el color del agua de fondo y una capa semi transparente del mismo color con un efecto que permita que se convine con los colores del personaje, adoptando levemente los tonos del agua para que se combinen y luzca sumergido.
This time, I'm going to apply color in a single layer, as this is the technique I use best for the effect I want to achieve in the drawing, adding depth and outline as I paint each part.When I'm finished, I add the background water color and a semi-transparent layer of the same color, creating an effect that blends with the character's colors, slightly adopting the tones of the water so they blend together and make it look submerged.
Luego de terminar con el personaje principal quiero agregar una serie de elementos, se supone que él está en una especie de acuario así que agregare unas algas y corales a su alrededor. No solo quiero dibujar al personaje si no también crear un ambiente y sensación sobre él.
After finishing the main character, I want to add a series of elements. He's supposed to be in some kind of aquarium, so I'll add some algae and coral around him. I don't just want to draw the character, but also create a mood and feel for him.
En el juego el personaje animado de Finley se describe como una serpiente marina que es amable y tímida, sin embargo, su versión mala no parece ser nada amable o tímida así que para trabajar ese concepto del personaje se me ocurrió hacerlo de tal forma como si él se estuviera ocultando detrás de las algas dejando en frente de él la prueba de romper la versión animada de el que luce amigable como si estuviera rompiendo ese concepto que en verdad no lo representa. Así que ocultarlo detrás de las algas me parece que permite ligarse con esa parte “tímida” en su versión mala.
In the game, Finley’s animated character is described as a sea serpent who is kind and shy, however, his evil version doesn’t seem to be kind or shy at all, so to work on that concept of the character, I came up with the idea of making it so that he was hiding behind the seaweed, leaving in front of him the test of breaking the animated version of him that looks friendly as if he were breaking that concept that doesn’t really represent him. So hiding him behind the seaweed seems to me to allow him to connect with that “shy” part of his evil version.
Una vez listo quiero enfocar más la visión hacia el así que añadiré ángulos efectos con la ayuda de Photoshop, siempre que dibujo mis dibujos van de Paint tool sai2 a Photoshop ya que dependiendo de lo que quiera hacer los programas me dan ciertas herramientas.
Lo primero es desenfocar las algas, corales y el dibujo roto, esto permite que la atención vaya al objeto nítido que en este caso es finley. Este dibujo como que se rompe en dos no lo dibuje, solo tome la imagen del personaje, le pase un poco de lineart y distorsione y modifique para que pareciera un cartón roto del dibujo, agregue unas manchas de sangre atrás y le agregue un delineado mas oscuro al dibujo.
Once it's ready, I want to focus more on it, so I'll add angle effects using Photoshop. Whenever I draw, I switch between Paint Tool sai2 and Photoshop, since the programs give me certain tools depending on what I want to do.
The first thing is to blur the algae, corals, and the broken drawing. This allows the attention to go to the sharp object, which in this case is Finley. I didn't draw this drawing as if it's broken in two; I just took the image of the character, applied a bit of lineart, and distorted and modified it to make it look like the cardboard torn from the drawing. I added some blood stains in the back and added a darker outline to the drawing.
Por último, voy a añadir más saturación a los colores y un toque más oscuro alrededor, voy a colocar un desenfoque a los lados además de distorsionar los bordes como si el agua se moviera permitiendo que la atención se concentre en finley aunque este esté oculto tras las algas no pierde la atención en el dibujo.
Finally, I'm going to add more saturation to the colors and a darker touch around, I'm going to place a blur on the sides as well as distort the edges as if the water were moving allowing attention to focus on Finley although he is hidden behind the algae he does not lose attention in the drawing.
