Today I'm going to recommend a manhwa I read not long ago. I found it to be a rather tender and funny story, and above all, it left me with some very emotional moments. At first glance, it may seem like just another "forced engagement" story, but as the chapters progress, we'll realize it has a profound, sentimental, and genuine message.

SYNOPSIS / SUMMARY:
Jubellian Eloy Floyen is a villain so hated by all that even her former lover and father abandon her to a miserable death. Facing fate, Jubelian has the opportunity to change it by going back in time. To escape the unsettling death that awaits her, she calls off her engagement and stops trying to win her father's love.
Rather than settle for less, Jubelian focuses on using her father's wealth to enjoy her new life to the fullest. But as she prepares for her extravagant life as a lady, her father begins searching for her new suitor. Fearing that he will marry her off to the infamous and unpredictable prince, she decides on a desperate solution: a dating contract. And the best candidate is none other than her father's disciple.
OUR PROTAGONIST DETERMINED TO CHANGE HER DESTINY:
Once Jubellian goes back in time, she decides to take control of her life, even with great fear, but always moving forward so as not to reach the same fate that was the end of her life. She goes from being an insecure young woman, living off what others say and marked by rejection, to a much stronger, thoughtful, and empathetic woman.
Something that we will notice throughout the plot is the relationship with her father (In my opinion it is the most emotional theme of the whole story), in her previous life she always looked for the acceptance and deep affection of her father while he was distant and cold with her... but deep down he loved her, however the clumsy or distant way he showed it created misunderstandings, in this new life she thought that the person who abandoned her without help was her father... So this is where she decides to be somewhat distant and not bother him to stay safe... or so she thinks.
MAX HEIRON - THE DUKE "NOTHING IS WHAT IT SEEMS" (If you read the manhwa, you'll understand):
Maximilian is seen by EVERYONE (including our protagonist) as a very dangerous man, with a tendency to eliminate anyone who stands in his way... however, he is one of the most endearing (and handsome) characters in the manhwa.
Behind his cold facade and somewhat "complicated" reputation, hides a deeply wounded person, marked by distrust and abandonment. Meeting Jubellian makes him much calmer, and he learns that he doesn't need to carry the entire burden alone (but calm only with Jubellian, as we often see him jealous or overprotective of her).
THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN OUR PROTAGONISTS:
This new bond begins when Jubellian realizes through a misunderstanding that her father was planning to marry her off to the Duke, so she decides to devise a way to avoid this. This involves getting in touch with her father's supposed apprentice to keep her from being put in a supposed commitment to a "monster" (In her mind, it was a barbaric thing, according to her, the plan couldn't fail LOL).
What she didn't realize was that "Max, the apprentice" was this supposed Duke feared by all... When she found out, she was shocked and very upset, believing that she had been played and ultimately killed. However, she realizes that beneath that reputation of being a lethal, emotionless killing machine... hides a young man who was raised as a military tool... someone who lacked a warmth without prejudice.
I really like this relationship because both complement and help each other in one way or another without realizing it. Jubellian had decided not to get emotionally involved with anyone for fear of getting hurt, but with Max she begins to open her heart little by little, and in him she finds protection and understanding... something she hadn't found in the nobility.
On the other hand, Max finds in Jubellian a reason to change, since the first time they met she was the first person who looked at him without fear or interest, which drives him to want to be worthy of her (To the point of having a constant rivalry with Regis since he thinks that his daughter should not be with someone like him).
Which brings us to the conclusion that, despite this entire relationship being created through confusion, as the chapter progresses, we enjoy the transformation of a sincere and profound bond. It teaches us that love isn't always born from a perfect situation or event, but from mistakes and certain circumstances that teach us how to heal each other.
THE MAN MARKED BY HIS PAST
Regis Floyen is Jubellian's father, and seeing the plot from his daughter's perspective, we learn of a frivolous man, but later on, we'll learn the true story. Before the story began, Regis was known as one of the most feared men in the empire for being a loyal and lethal servant in combat, but what no one knew was that he was constantly being manipulated by the King.
Behind this impeccable reputation, he hid a very deep wound: the death of his wife. Unfortunately, while Regis was being manipulated, he was forced to end his life with all the magi, including his wife.
She was a sweet and kind woman, the complete opposite of Regis, but her loss was so devastating that it changed him completely, as he felt that by losing his wife, he also lost the ability to be a good father. Every time he looked at Jubellian, he saw in her the reflection of the woman he loved and couldn't protect, which caused him to shut himself off emotionally, making him unable to express his feelings properly.
The plot also explores this bond, and how she gradually begins to understand that protecting those you love most doesn't mean walking away, but rather being present, even with one's own mistakes and imperfections. The father-daughter relationship transforms from a distant bond filled with misunderstandings to a genuine connection, where both learn to communicate and heal past wounds.
Finally, we'll see a much closer family, where Regis continues to adore his daughter with all his heart and tends to show it even more (even when Jubellian is already married to Max, I think Regis wouldn't pass up the opportunity to kill him for taking his daughter away).
... But now he not only has her as his adoration, but now he will be the doting grandfather, capable of making a fool of himself in order to maintain the happiness of his grandchildren... But Max will not be left behind either, since his children will be the most spoiled by the two of them.
Finally, I highly recommend this manhwa because it's one of those stories that not only focuses on the protagonists, but also explains that there's a story behind it all, which completely changes your perspective. So, if you're looking for a story of romance, comedy, and, above all, a plot with hidden fantasy elements... you should read it! You won't regret it!

El día de hoy les recomendaré un manhwa que leí no hace mucho, el cual me pareció una historia algo tierna, divertida y sobre todo me dejó unos momentos muy emotivos. A primera vista le puede parecer a muchos una historia más de un "compromiso forzado", pero mientras avanzan los capítulos nos daremos cuenta que viene con un gran mensaje muy sentimental y genuino.

SINOPSIS / RESUMEN:
Jubellian Eloy Floyen es una villana tan detestada por todos que incluso su antiguo amante y padre la abandonan a una muerte lamentable. Al enfrentarse al destino, Jubelian tiene la oportunidad de cambiarlo retrocediendo en el tiempo. Para escapar de la muerte inquietante que la aguarda, cancela su compromiso y deja de intentar conquistar el amor de su padre.
En lugar de conformarse con menos, Jubelian se centra en usar la riqueza de su padre para disfrutar al máximo de su nueva vida. Pero mientras se prepara para su extravagante vida de dama, su padre empieza a buscar a su nuevo pretendiente. Temerosa de que la case con el infame e impredecible príncipe, se decide por una solución desesperada: un contrato de citas. Y el mejor candidato no es otro que el discípulo de su padre.
NUESTRA PROTAGONISTA DECIDIDA A CAMBIAR SU DESTINO:
Una vez que Jubellian retrocede en el tiempo ella decide tomar el control de su vida, incluso con muchísimo miedo pero siempre siguiendo adelante para no llegar hacia el mismo destino el cual era el final de su vida. Pasa de ser una joven insegura, viviendo de lo que digan los demás y marcada por el rechazo, a una mujer mucho más fuerte, reflexiva y empática.
Algo que notaremos a lo largo de la trama es la relación con su padre (A mi parecer es el tema más emotivo de toda la historia), en su vida anterior ella siempre buscaba la aceptación y el cariño profundo de su padre mientras él era distante y frío con ella... pero en lo más profundo él la amaba, sin embargo la manera torpe o distante que lo demostraba creaba malos entendidos, ella en esta nueva vida pensó que la persona que la abandonó sin ayuda era su padre... Así que aquí es donde ella decide ser algo distante y no molestarlo para mantenerse a salvo... o eso es lo que ella cree.
MAX HEIRON - EL DUQUE "NADA ES LO QUE PARECE" (Si leen el manhwa me entenderán):
Maximiliano es visto por TODOS (Incluyendo a nuestra protagonista) como un hombre muy peligroso, con un carácter de eliminar a cualquier persona que obstruya su camino... sin embargo, es uno de los personajes más tiernos (Y guapos) del manhwa.
Detrás de su fachada fría y su reputación algo "complicada", se esconde una persona muy herida y marcado por la desconfianza y el abandono. El conocer a Jubellian lo vuelve mucho más calmado y aprende que no necesita cargar con todo el peso solo (Pero calmado sólo con Jubellian por que muchas veces lo veremos celoso o muy sobreprotector con ella).
LA RELACIÓN DE NUESTROS PROTAGONISTAS:
Este nuevo vínculo comienza cuando Jubellian comprende por un mal entendido que su padre planeaba casarla con el Duque, así que ella decide idear una manera de evitar eso, el cual es ponerse en relación con el supuesto aprendiz de su padre para evitar que la pongan en un supuesto compromiso con un "monstruo" (En su mente era una cosa pero bárbara, según ella ese plan no podía fallar JAJAJA).
Lo que ella no contaba era que "Max, el aprendiz" era este supuesto Duque temido por todos... Cuando ella se ella se enteró quedó plasmada y muy molesta creyendo que habían jugado con ella para terminar matandola, sin embargo se da cuenta que debajo de esa reputación de ser una maquina de matar, letal y sin emociones... Se esconde un joven que fue criado como una herramienta militar... alguien que carecía de una calidez sin prejuicios.
Me gusta muchísimo esta relación ya que ambos de alguna u otra forma de complementan y se ayudan sin darse cuenta. Jubellian había decidido no involucrarse emocionalmente con nadie por miedo a terminar lastimada, pero con Max empieza abriendo su corazón poco a poco, en él encuentra protección y comprensión... cosa que no había encontrado en el entorno de la nobleza.
Por otro lado, Max encuentra en Jubellian un motivo para cambiar, desde la primera vez que se conocieron fue la primera persona que lo miró sin miedo ni interés, lo que lo impulsa a desear ser digno de ella (A tal punto de llevar una rivalidad constante con Regis ya que él piensa que su hija no debería estar con alguien como él).
Lo que nos lleva a que a pesar de que toda esta relación que se creó por medio de una confusión, con el pasar del capítulo disfrutamos de toda la transformación de un vínculo sincero y profundo. Nos enseña que el amor no siempre nace de una situación o acontecimiento perfecto, sino de los errores y ciertas circunstancias que nos enseñe a sanar mutuamente.
EL HOMBRE QUE QUEDÓ MARCADO POR SU PASADO
Regis Floyen es el padre de Jubellian y nosotros al ver la trama desde la perspectiva de su hija conocemos a un tipo frívolo, pero más adelante conoceremos la verdadera versión. Antes de que comenzara la historia, Regis fue conocido como uno de los hombres más temidos del imperio por ser un fiel servidor letal en combate, pero lo que nadie sabía era que siempre era manipulado por el Rey.
Detrás de toda esta reputación intachable, escondía una herida muy profunda... la muerte de su esposa. Lamentablemente, mientras Regis era manipulado lo obligan a terminar la vida con todos los magos, entre ellos su esposa.
Ella fue una mujer dulce y amable, totalmente opuesta a lo que era Regis, su pérdida fue tan devastadora que lo cambió por completo, ya que el siente que al perder su esposa, también perdió la capacidad de ser buen padre. Cada vez que observaba a Jubellian, ve en ella el reflejo de la mujer que amó y no pudo proteger, lo cual se encerró emocionalmente, volviéndose incapaz de expresar sus sentimientos adecuadamente.
Aquí en la trama también se hablará de este vínculo y como poco a poco empieza a entender que proteger a los que más amas no significa alejarse, sino estar presente incluso con los errores e imperfecciones que puede tener uno mismo. La relación padre e hija pasa de ser un lazo distante y lleno de medio junto con malentendidos a una conexión genuina, donde ambos aprenden a comunicarse y sanar las heridas del pasado.
Finalmente observaremos una familia mucho más unida, donde Regis sigue adorando a su hija con todo su corazón y suele demostrárselo mucho más (Incluso cuando Jubellian ya se encuentra casada con Max, creo que Regis no desaprovecharía la oportunidad de matarlo por llevarse a su hija)...
... pero ahora no sólo la tiene a ella como su adoración, sino que ahora será el abuelito consentidor, capaz de hacer el ridículo con tal de mantener la felicidad de sus nietos... Pero Max tampoco se quedará atrás, ya que sus hijos serán los más consentidos por parte de los dos).
Para finalizar, recomiendo mucho este manhwa por que es una de las historias en el cual no solo se centran en los protagonistas, sino que explican que hay una historia detrás de todo ello que te hace cambiar completamente la perspectiva que podías tener en un inicio. Así que si buscas leer una historia de romance, comedia y sobre todo que la trama tenga cosas ocultas a nivel de fantasía... deberías leerlo! No te arrepentirás!
