This is my post on #freewriters2878 #dailyprompt swearing rabbit hosted by @marinnewest's. In the heart of Willow Wood, a rabbit named Roger was infamous for his foul mouth. Unlike his fluffy kin, who nibbled clover and chirped politely, Roger swore like a sailor. “Bloody carrots!” he’d yell when a root snapped, or “Bugger off!” to nosy squirrels. His burrow, tucked under an oak, echoed with curses that made the earthworms blush. One spring, a fox named Fiona moved in nearby. She was cunning, with a taste for chaos, and Roger’s profanity intrigued her. “Why so cranky, bunny?” she purred, dodging a pebble he chucked. “Sod off, you mangy git!” Roger snapped, but Fiona only laughed, circling closer. She proposed a deal: she’d keep predators away if Roger taught her his colorful vocabulary. Reluctantly, Roger agreed. Each dawn, he’d grumble through lessons—“Call a badger a ‘sodding lout,’ it’s got zing!”—while Fiona practiced, her tail flicking with glee. Soon, she was outswearing him, tossing insults like “piss-poor weasel” at passing critters. The forest buzzed with scandal. But Roger’s heart softened. Fiona’s wit matched his, and her protection let him nibble in peace. One evening, as they shared a stolen cabbage, he muttered, “You’re not half bad, fox.” She smirked, “Damn right, you daft bugger.” Willow Wood never tamed Roger’s tongue, but with Fiona by his side, his curses carried a hint of affection, turning the forest into a riot of laughter and swears.
