This is my post on #freewriters2900 #dailyprompt soap hosted by @marinnewest's. In the vibrant streets of Uyo, where the tropical breeze mingled with the aroma of street food and lively banter, Inimfon charted her path like a delicate vessel on turbulent waters. At 28, she embodied the elegance of Akwa Ibom—statuesque, with smooth dark skin and eyes brimming with untold mysteries from the ocean depths. Yet, hidden turmoil from familial deceit and illicit romance churned within her. Inimfon toiled at Ibom Plaza, peddling colorful fabrics in her aunt's stall. Her routine involved bargaining with visitors, evading the scorching heat, and fantasizing about a life in Lagos. That all shifted when Etim, her old flame, came back from overseas. Now a polished engineer with an exotic twang, he declared his eternal affection beneath the glowing signs of Champion Breweries. "Inim, you've always been in my thoughts," he whispered, his touch lingering in the twilight throng. Dark clouds gathered, though. Her older sibling, Ekaette, nursed a deep resentment. Long ago, Inimfon had accidentally unveiled Ekaette's secret romance, fracturing their household's harmony. Seeking vengeance, Ekaette conspired with a dubious entrepreneur coveting Inimfon's legacy—a valuable oil-laden property. "She'll regret her interference," Ekaette muttered to her partner in a shadowy tavern along Oron Road. During the dazzling Uyo Christmas Carnival one evening, chaos unfolded. Etim knelt with a ring amid bursting pyrotechnics, but Ekaette unveiled a counterfeit deed asserting ownership of the land. Inimfon's reality shattered. With tears flowing, she challenged her sister: "Eka, how could you? We're family!" Ekaette scoffed, "Family ties break when you've stolen it all." As alarms echoed afar, Inimfon vanished into the shadows, determined to expose the fraud. Unbeknownst to her, Etim concealed a marriage from his time abroad. In Uyo's maze of trust and treachery, Inimfon's drama was merely unfolding, a fabric of desire interlaced with betrayal.
