This is my post on #freewriters2846 #dailyprompt applaud me hosted by @marinnewest's. In the quiet village of Ikot Odiong in Ukanafun Local Government Area,Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, where applause was rare as starlight in a storm, lived Mara, a weaver of dreams. Her tapestries, woven with threads of moonlight and hope, captivated hearts but never earned praise. The villagers, bound by tradition, believed applause was reserved for grand heroes, not humble artists. One twilight, a shadow-beast threatened Ikot Odiong, its roars chilling the air. Mara, undaunted, wove a tapestry infused with ancient songs of courage. As she draped it over the village square, the beast gazed upon it, entranced. Its fury softened, and it slunk away, leaving peace behind. The villagers gathered, awestruck. For the first time, they clapped—a thunderous, heartfelt applause that echoed through the hills. Mara blushed, her heart swelling. “We were wrong,” said Elder Thorne. “Your art saved us. Applaud her!” From that day, Mara’s tapestries adorned every home, and applause became Ikot Odiong’s song. Children clapped for small joys, and elders for memories woven anew. Mara, once overlooked, became the village’s heartbeat, her hands threading stories that united them all. And so, in Ikot Odiong, “Applaud me” became a whispered promise: create, and the world will cheer.
