This is my post on #freewriters2851 #dailyprompt proclaim hosted by @marinnewest's. In the village of Elderglow, a forgotten bell tower stood atop a hill, its bronze heart silent for centuries. Every solstice, villagers whispered of the Proclaimer, a mythical guardian who rang the bell to herald truths that could reshape destinies. No one believed it anymore—until Mira, a curious weaver, climbed the tower under a crimson moon. Inside, cobwebs draped the ancient bell. Mira’s fingers brushed its surface, and it hummed, alive. A voice, both thunder and whisper, spoke: “Proclaim a truth, and I shall make it known.” Trembling, Mira confessed her village’s secret shame—greed had poisoned their river, hidden by elders to protect trade. The bell tolled, its peal shaking the valley. By dawn, the village gathered, faces pale as the river’s truth rippled through their minds, undeniable. They couldn’t ignore it now. Furious but awakened, they cleansed the river, their unity forged anew. Mira, once overlooked, became their guide. The Proclaimer never rang again, but Mira knew it listened. Each solstice, she climbed the tower, not to speak, but to thank the bell for teaching her village to face itself.
