Hello everyone, welcome to my blog. Today I'm here to tell you a little about my experience in one of the latest tournaments held by the Nueva Esparta State Chess Association (ASOAJEDRENE): the Classic Chess at the Highest Level Tournament. To be completely honest with you, my performance was mediocre; totally disastrous, well below my usual level. Of the seven rounds of play, I only participated in four, because between my work and university schedule, I couldn't make it on time. I'm very used to skipping classes to play chess in a park or participate in a tournament, and to missing work to play in some tournaments, but with a report to defend and having abused my work permits, the conditions were not right for me to play. Anyway, I signed up because our professor and association president is conducting training circuits for a national team, and anyone who didn't participate would be excommunicated from the team, so I participated in the rounds I could. It wasn't easy, because even the rounds I could participate in conflicted with my work schedule. I left work at 1:30 p.m., and with the fourth round starting at 1:00 p.m., my schedule was very tight. Having been withdrawn from the first three rounds, I had a relatively easy pairing in my remaining rounds, which was very frustrating for me, because even with relatively weak players, I was unable to prevail. against the weak opponents, I finished in 12 and 22 moves respectively, but my opponents with the same Elo rating beat me after taking a pawn (both in knight endgames). I didn't lose Elo, in fact I gained 3 points... The only thing I lost was the faith of my teachers who believed in me. My performance left a very bad taste in my mouth, so much so that I even thought about dedicating myself solely to refereeing; however, I remember that my teacher used to say that sometimes there are good tournaments and bad tournaments, but the important thing is not to give up. I believe that I still have a lot of good chess left in me to throw in the towel. I am still young, and I am not giving up. Anyway, putting my participation aside, there were some very good games played at the top tables. I congratulate all my friends who won for their good performance and for the good time we had playing cards between rounds, playing truco, and building card castles. Despite everything, I had a great time over the weekend, both on and off the board. Thank you all very much for reading and sharing. See you next time.
